Los Angeles Rams seem to be struggling to attract fans to their home games at SoFi Stadium after repeated use of fake crowd noise during games.

The Los Angeles Rams welcomed the San Francisco 49ers to SoFi Stadium on Thursday to start Week 5 of the 2025 NFL season. They were focused on improving their record against a team facing quite a few injury problems.

The away team was without Brock Purdy, their entire starting receiving unit, and a couple of offensive linemen, along with some major defensive absentees.

All of this should have buoyed the Rams fans into purchasing tickets, as the odds were in their favor, giving them a win to cheer about as they start their weekend.

However, it seems Los Angeles fans might have felt that they would rather preserve their money for a more exciting game. It certainly seemed that way when videos from the Thursday Night Football classic revealed that Rams fans were far fewer inside SoFi Stadium.

Instead, it was packed with San Francisco 49ers fans who came in heaps to support their injury-riddled squad, knowing they had an uphill battle against the in-form home team.

There were just a few dots of blue among the sea of red and white 49ers jerseys, which meant the home team did not enjoy the support they otherwise would have had.

Those videos then show that the Los Angeles Rams, in their attempts to counter the lack of fan support, blasted crowd noise through the stadium’s speakers.

The situation was blatantly evident as, while the sounds of cheers filled the stadium, video clips uploaded onto social media show that Rams fans, despite their few numbers, were not even cheering their team at that specific point in time.

Football fans tear into Rams for pumping fake crowd noise

Had those fan videos not made it to the internet, football fanatics would not have seen proof that the Los Angeles Rams were deliberately pumping fake crowd noise through the speakers.

The clear difference between how the fans seated inside SoFi Stadium were behaving at the same time when the cheers came through the speakers shows that the franchise resorted to fake noise.

The NFL usually does not condone this and fined the Atlanta Falcons $350,000 and docked their 2016 5th-round pick as punishment. Now, fans want the league to do the same to the Rams after blatantly doing the same.

They believe this was not in the spirit of competition and want the league to investigate and reprimand them appropriately for repeatedly following that method. Check out examples of those reactions below:

When it comes to competitive sports, if there were not enough home fans to cheer for the Los Angeles Rams, it should have naturally impacted them. That is why some players call out their fans to amp up their support. However, this franchise chose to fake it.

Rams have to avoid such marginal losses if they are to compete for the Super Bowl

During the 2025 offseason, there were a lot of question marks about the Los Angeles Rams and their direction. Rumors of Matthew Stafford contemplating retirement, talks about Aaron Rodgers joining, and then the franchise signing Davante Adams confused football fans.

Finally, Stafford decided to remain, and with the addition of Adams, the team reiterated their intention to try to win another Super Bowl. Other than a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, their play so far has proved that the team might end up battling for another ring.

That was before they battled the San Francisco 49ers, who, despite their injuries, battled all the way into overtime and ended up victorious. That loss was disappointing, as the Rams could have vaulted up to second in the NFC.

Winning games against such teams is what the franchise needs to do without fail. Yet, they first allowed an injury-riddled 49ers offense to take a big lead, and then could not seal the deal late in the game. Head coach Sean McVay and Stafford have to figure out what is wrong and fix it.
