LeBron James had to wait until the middle of November to debut in his 23rd season after struggling with sciatica for most of the offseason, and then during the first month of the 2025-26 campaign.
Before making his debut, he joined the South Bay Lakers, the G-League outfit that prepared his son, Bronny James, before he became a permanent fixture on the 1st team.
Then, when the Lakers returned from their 5-game road trip, the King was ready to make his debut. In the game against the Utah Jazz, James scored 11 points and dished out 12 assists.
His performance in those 30 minutes was good enough that one of his primary foes, Stephen A. Smith, believed James had displayed how he could elevate his team to at least reach the Conference Finals.
Others were also impressed, as the Akron native proved that he could play in whatever way the coaches wanted him to. Despite all that, there was one familiar critic who believed that the performance was not as great as it looked.
It still looked like he was playing for stats. Playing to get assists and get his 10 points.
Kwame Brown said on his show
The former Lakers star believes LeBron James made sure he would get his double digits in points first, and then went about intentionally gathering his assists.

Kwame Brown believes the all-time leader in points knew the world was watching, and hence took only 7 shots. That, to him, was a way of ensuring that James finished the night with a double-double.
Fans tear into Kwame Brown for mindless LeBron James claim
This clip from Kwame Brown appeared on the social media platform X after a longtime critic of LeBron James posted it, hoping it would generate enough views among the superstar’s critics.

Many did join in to troll the 4-time champion, but there were many more who felt the former center, who is often labeled as one of the biggest NBA busts of all time, was not making sense.
Fans questioned if everything was alright with him, as the game footage does not show James as the one trying to rack up the statistics board.
They believe this is plain old jealousy on display, as the former No. 1 overall pick, who was once touted to be the next Shaquille O’Neal, could never come close to the 4-time league MVP’s hype. Check out examples of those reactions below.
“He’s playing to get assists”. There’s nothing in the skull but a hamster spinning on a wheel

So when he tries to shoot, he’s stat padding. When he’s finding Ayton, he’s stat padding. When he only takes 7 shots, he’s stat padding. https://t.co/e7F7AMSLU7

Did he just say that LeBron was playing to get assists and points? The entire point of playing basketball is to get assists and points; it’s how you win…

Brown has a history of trying to belittle LeBron James or anything associated with him. Fans have seen enough proof to believe that the former center just wants to do anything to be associated with the NBA, and particularly the league’s best-known name.
Kwame Brown berates Gilbert Arenas for glazing LeBron James
Kwame Brown was not done with bringing LeBron James into the picture. This time, he dragged former teammate Gilbert Arenas into the mix.
Gilbert Arenas said Luka traveled. I thought Gilbert was a Laker fan. I don’t think Gilbert is a Laker fan at all, he is a LeBron glizzy glizzy glazer, cause I’ve never seen someone say they are a fan of a team, but they will diss one player and say that play he just made that’s a travel, this is sick at this point.

He believes for all the Lakers’ fandom, Agent Zero is not a true fan of the team. Rather, he is glazing the 4-time league MVP. Brown believes there was no need for Arenas to call out Luka Doncic‘s travel, especially after he scored 37 points to help the team win.
