Tennis legend Novak Djokovic‘s main sponsor, Lacoste, recently made a huge blunder by looking beyond the present and celebrating the Serb’s 25th Grand Slam title prematurely. The mistake occurred when the company created a commemorative tracksuit that was put on sale for US customers.

This chaotic move resulted in embarrassment for both Lacoste and Djokovic. Lacoste CEO Thierry Guibert confirmed this mistake on social media to address the situation.

I have to apologize about that. It was a mistake on our side due to IT issues.

Djokovic has never shied away from the fact that he enters Grand Slam finals, believing he will win. Last year, before his French Open and US Open finals, the 37-year-old had a couple of Lacoste tracksuits featuring ’23’ and ’24’ on them. He wore these during the trophy ceremonies to celebrate his Grand Slam victories.

However, this strategy has backfired for Djokovic and his sponsor. Given his current lack of form and fitness in 2024 so far, it is difficult to believe that his 25th Grand Slam title is imminent. Nevertheless, he has a chance to make history at Wimbledon, which starts on July 1st.

Novak Djokovic officially confirmed for Paris Olympics

World No.2 Novak Djokovic’s participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics has been officially confirmed. Following a knee surgery, the Serbian Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday that the 24-time Grand Slam champion will be fit to compete when the tennis events commence on July 27.

Djokovic’s Olympic availability had been uncertain after he withdrew from the 2024 French Open before the quarterfinals due to a torn meniscus, prompting the surgery. The Belgrade native was scheduled to play Casper Ruud in the last eight.

Although Djokovic was unable to complete his run at Roland Garros, he aims to clinch a gold medal on the same courts that will host the 2024 Olympics. The 37-year-old has previously triumphed in the French Open three times.

Djokovic’s Olympic record includes a bronze medal from the 2008 Beijing Games. Heading into this year’s Olympics, the current US Open champion is seen as a strong contender for the gold. With his participation in the Olympics now confirmed, attention shifts to his status for Wimbledon, starting on July 1.
