The Los Angeles Lakers were involved in all sorts of headlines during the trade market a few weeks ago. Mostly because they traded in superstar player Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks and sent their star defender Anthony Davis in return. However, they are yet to see a signature Doncic performance in blue and gold this season. On Tuesday, the Lakers played against the Charlotte Hornets and shockingly lost by 97-100.

The Hornets took control at Crypto.com Arena when the Lakers went six minutes without making a field goal after leading by as many as 13 points in the third quarter. After a nine-point deficit was erased by a LeBron James-led rally, the Hornets ultimately prevailed despite James dropping 26 points. Notably, Luka Doncic had a poor showing against the Hornets. This has raised concerns among the Lakers’ fanbase.

Doncic struggled with efficiency after the All-Star break, despite scoring 14 points in his Lakers start and 16 in his second game. He ended with 11 rebounds, eight assists, six turnovers, and 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting, including 1 of 9 from 3-point range. For a large portion of the game, he had been in foul trouble.

This had left many Lakers fans upset as they let out their opinions via their social handles. On the other hand, LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges starred for the Hornets away from home court. Bridges scored 29 points whereas LaMelo Ball added 27 to secure an important victory for their side.

In addition, the Lakers sit in 5th place in the Western Conference after this loss against the Hornets. They have a 32-21 record in the West and are trailing the Houston Rockets for 4th spot. Doncic and Co. have a lot of work cut out for them if they wish to win an NBA title this season.

In his second game with the Lakers, Doncic had a poor game. He scored only 14 points and gave away the ball numerous times leading to his opposition’s victory.
