Lakers are ‘unserious organization’ after pairing Bronny and LeBron James together, claims DeMarcus Cousins
DeMarcus Cousins accuses the Lakers of dropping the ball with the acquisition of LeBron James’ son, Bronny James.

Lakers drafting Bronny James has raised serious questions about their championship aspirations
The Los Angeles Lakers made NBA history when they drafted Bronny James 55th overall. Soon, they re-signed his father, LeBron James, in free agency. In the process, they created the league’s first-ever father-son duo and the first father-son to play in the NBA simultaneously.
Furthermore, the fans loved this historic moment when the two shared the court together during a preseason game against the Phoenix Suns. However, former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins expressed doubts about the Lakers’ offseason decisions. He labeled them as far from ‘serious.’
I take it as a move as I don’t really think the Lakers are serious anymore. You know, I love everything that it stands for… you know, what Bron is doing with his legacy and just, you know, as a businessman and everything that comes with that, I think it’s a beautiful thing… But as far as the Lakers actually competing, I don’t know. I take that as a sign that they aren’t really serious.

On the show, Cousins also commented on the Lakers’ 17th pick, Dalton Knecht. The veteran praised Knecht for his scoring potential and versatility. Despite Knecht’s promise, Cousins felt that the Lakers’ lack of significant moves in free agency had left them underprepared.

While other teams made major offseason trades and signings, the Lakers only made minor adjustments. They hired first-time head coach JJ Redick after they fired Darvin Ham. He criticized the team for missing out on big names like DeMar DeRozan to the Kings.
Bronny James gives honest assessment of his performance
While DeMarcus Cousins has a point about the Lakers aspirations this season, highly criticized Bronny James has reflected on his preseason performance. He answered honestly about it when quizzed by reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.
For me, just getting comfortable. Going out there and getting reps. I feel like that’s the most important thing. Just for me to grow my confidence and be more comfortable when I’m out there playing. I feel good. The numbers could be better. I just got to get my confidence up.

An unwanted record in his three appearances saw him average 0.7 points, one rebound, one block, and 0.3 assists in nearly 12 minutes per game. These modest stats are consistent with his Summer League numbers, where he averaged seven points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists.
Furthermore, his college stats at USC also showed similar struggles, with 4.8 points per game on 36.6% shooting. Despite these troubling stats, Lakers head coach JJ Redick still spoke positively about his potential. Only time will tell if Bronny James proves everyone wrong.
