Lakers clubbing in Miami touted as possible reason for blowout loss to Heat

The Los Angeles Lakers players mindset is coming under scrutiny after blowout loss to the Miami Heat

The Los Angeles Lakers blowout loss to the Miami Heat has shaken the NBA. It has sparked debates over the very structure of the franchise, their roster construction, and also their intent under new head coach JJ Redick.

With LeBron James and his teammates struggling against another playoff team, every possibility is being discussed. On one hand, critics have questioned the team’s mentality.

They showed a lack of intent to play and did not bring out the drive needed to fight for wins. Gaping holes on defense and a stagnant offense suggested something was not right in that locker room.

Head coach Redick was quick to take the blame on himself and his leading superstar echoed the sentiments that the team should be embarrassed. However, when former player Chandler Parsons discussed the topic on the Run It Back show, he had another question.

I literally found myself Googling ‘What club is open on a Tuesday night in Miami,’ because the Lakers went. The only thing I could think of is they got super lit the night before and they just didn’t care. This is the one time they are going to Miami, and they are just going to let it loose.

Chandler Parsons said

The former player suggested that the way the Los Angeles Lakers played against the Miami Heat, it was evident that it had nothing to do with basketball. The result of this embarrassment would be that JJ Redick and the coaching staff have a tough time trying to figure out what went wrong.

Former Lakers star questions current squad’s effort

After hearing Chandler Parsons give his opinion, his colleague and former Los Angeles Lakers star Lou Williams gave his thoughts. The two talked about what Magic Johnson mentioned on social media and what he felt the team showed in that blowout loss.

Looking at this game, there was a lack of effort from the Lakers. It looks like these guys quit on JJ Redick. They quit on themselves, quit on everything they had going.

Lou Williams stated

The three-time Sixth Man of the Year mentioned that this lack of effort was not a one-off situation. In fact, it had shown its ugly side in the past two blowout games against strong opposition. If anything, he feels that this is not on JJ Redick but on the players, who have to take a better look at themselves.

Williams felt that if the Los Angeles Lakers do not fix this problem, their season could be over soon. With that, they will also lose the reputation the franchise has built so far.
