LeBron James caused quite the furor when he teased his ‘Decision 2’ on October 6th. At the time, it seemed as if he was about to announce his retirement from the NBA.

The 40-year-old acted his part to generate hype surrounding the video. He wore a shirt which had a similar pattern to the one he sported when filming 2010s ‘The Decision’.

All of that helped the posts reach millions of views, and fans were left gasping at the thought of the game’s all-time leading scorer, leaving the sport altogether.

At the same time, that frenzy had an impact on ticket sales. The April 12th regular-season finale was set to be held at Crypto.com Arena. Fans gobbled up tickets for that game against the Utah Jazz, sending the minimum price skyrocketing to $445.

Then the following day, the full video dropped, and it turned out to be a commercial for Hennessey VSOP. LeBron James has a longstanding relationship with the company and has a special edition cognac to his name. This was his way of generating attention for the brand.

Once it became clear that the 2025-26 season was not going to be his final game, ticket prices for that April 12th game dropped significantly. One fan has decided to sue The King after losing money on those tickets.

Andrew Garcia, a 29-year-old, lifelong Lakers fan, filed the lawsuit in a small claims court in Los Angeles County on Wednesday … claiming James owes him $865.66 after he says the hooper seemingly intimated he was about to announce his retirement.

TMZ revealed

The publication also revealed that the fan purchased two tickets for $432.83 apiece after watching the teaser. Andrew Garcia is suing for fraud, deception, and misrepresentation.

LeBron James has not trained with Lakers

LeBron James is likely safe from litigation, as there is no indication of retirement in the teaser. Hence, the fan might not get a judge to agree. On the other hand, there are concerns over his next season.

I haven’t. It’s something I just be waiting on, just gotta be prepared.

Deandre Ayton said to reporters

This was the answer from offseason signing Deandre Ayton when asked if he had a chance to practice with Luka Doncic or the oldest player in the league.

His answer, as captured by Dave McMenamin, suggests the 4-time champion has yet to suit up and practice with his Los Angeles Lakers teammates. The ones who are used to him might be fine.

But when it comes to the new recruits, it is important for them to get on the same page with the team’s leaders. With less than 2 weeks left before the 2025-26 season, there are concerns that the Lakers might struggle early on.

LeBron James not rushing to get ready ahead of 23rd season

Those concerns of LeBron James and the Lakers not having the best of starts may be valid. However, the superstar does not believe he should be racing to get ready ahead of his 23rd season.

Me being on the brink of 41, I don’t have to rush myself to get to 100% in October and November. Every month we will ramp up (his conditioning).

LeBron James said on Mind the Game

The 4-time league MVP’s podcast co-host, Steve Nash, agreed that at this stage of his career, James should conserve his energy to be at peak conditioning come playoff time.

Last season, fatigue undermined their chances in the first round despite finishing 3rd in the West. It seems the Akron native wants to ensure he is at his best when the postseason comes around.
