Lakers legend warns Boston Celtics about concerning takeaway from Mavericks blow out win
The Mavericks made history as they won Game 4 by 38 points against the Celtics.
Derek Fisher warned Celtics for Game 5 against the Mavericks
When the Boston Celtics got their third consecutive win in the finals, many assumed that the series was over. However, the Dallas Mavericks shocked the NBA world with their unreal comeback and blew out the Celtics in Game 4. Considering the Celtics 3-1 lead, Boston still might be confident but former player Derek Fisher has warned the team.
Derek Fisher was a guest on the Draymond Green Show where he talked about the Mavericks’ win in Game 4. Fisher reflected on Dallas’ role players getting involved in the win which could be a threat for the Celtics. According to Fisher, the win gained a lot of confidence for Mavericks which will be useful in Game 5.
I don't if Boston feels surprised that they couldn't beat them. But I do think Dallas found some things they might be able to take to the garden.Derek Fisher said
Fisher stated that as players like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dante Exum had much better performances, that creates options for the Mavericks. With the starters and the incredible backcourt, Dallas has many players to turn to. Hence, Fisher stated that the next game would not be easy for the Celtics.
As no team in NBA history has ever come back from a 0-3 deficit, Fisher still believes that the Celtics would win the series. But the Mavericks’ performance in Game 4 has certainly changed many perspectives. Even if Boston manages to win the series, it would not be as simple as expected.
Derek Fisher did not expect the Mavericks’ huge win
After the Celtics won back-to-back games, the chances were looking slim for the Mavericks heading into the fourth game. However, the team did what nobody expected as they completely dominated the juggernaut Celtics. Fisher himself did not expect the Mavericks’ huge win.
As Green’s podcast was live immediately after the game, Fisher was asked about his initial takeaway for the win. Fisher quickly admitted that he expected the team to win but not by such a huge difference.
I did feel like Dallas could possibly win the game tonight but not by 50. There's no way I anticipated it would be that lopsided of a victory.Derek Fisher added
According to Fisher, Mavericks played ‘faster’ which made the biggest difference. Mavericks’ speed ended up being the greater force early in the game, which helped the team dominate the Celtics and set the tone. After the embarrassing defeat in Game 4, the Celtics certainly need better plans for the fifth game.
