Lakers owner Jeanie Buss justifying Anthony Davis trade does not sit well with fans: “The audacity of this comment”
Owner Jeanie Buss has maintained that the Los Angeles Lakers unwillingly gave up Anthony Davis in the trade for Luka Doncic.

Los Angeles Lakers owner Jeanie Buss and former player Anthony Davis
When the Los Angeles Lakers decided they want to complete the tremor inducing trade that brought in Luka Doncic, they had to give up Anthony Davis and Max Christie. Owner Jeanie Buss has talked about how secretive the deal was kept so that other teams did not catch wind of it.
But while talking about that deal, she revealed that the Lakers did not want to give AD up. But the now Dallas Mavericks superstar has called cap on that logic. He believes his former team knew all along that they had to give him up.
He has moved on from that and so have the Lakers as they have climbed up to 2nd place in the Western Conference. That is a remarkable feat considering they gave up two of their best defensive players to get one who is known to not be interested in defense.
A couple of days ago, NPR caught up with Jeanie Buss to talk about her personal life as well as business. When asked about the Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade, the 63-year-old went on to say about her now former player.
We have lost the last three years in a row to the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs, and we really didn’t have anything that was going to look different going into the playoffs again. Anthony Davis was complaining about where he was being played and he wasn’t happy. So I think this was a positive for both teams.
Jeanie Buss said
Buss’s words caught on to Davis’ complaints on playing the 5 position. She believes AD got his wish, just that it was on a different team. He can now play the 4 as he had wanted. Whereas the Lakers get their future superstar.
Fans tear into Jeanie Buss for unwanted Anthony Davis comment
Fans reading this article lost their minds. They have seen how the Dallas Mavericks launched a smear campaign against Luka Doncic. With this comment they feel Jeanie Buss is trying to justify her team’s decision. However, they believe it was unnecessary to slander Anthony Davis to justify their move.
The Los Angeles Lakers are also playing good basketball and comments such as this will only draw negative attention. Check out examples of those reactions below.

He wanted to be the next face of the lakers after when LeBron left.
Shame on you Jeanie Buss
This is not only completely unnecessary, it hurts our ability to retain superstars in the future. All AD wanted was another competent center on the roster, something which almost all observers of the team agreed that they needed

A bit unnecessary on the part of Buss.
— ZACK! (@I_amZackk) March 5, 2025
AD’s gripes were the lakers not getting a Center so that AD could play his natural position.
Am I the only one who thinks this is extremely unnecessary and extremely disrespectful?!

She should've just kept quiet
— Phi (@PhiThaGreat) March 6, 2025
All he asked for was a Center so he doesn’t need to bang with Other centers…

The Lakers are playing good basketball and Jeanie Buss will be happy with how the season has panned out. They have received their fair share of negativity. First with JJ Redick‘s hiring. Then not being able to add free agents to the team. Now fans believe they should bask in the positivity they are enjoying.
