Jeannie Buss and Jay Mohr have an unusual relationship
The Los Angeles Lakers, like always, have a penchant for making the headlines. This time, however, it is not because of their recent trade for Luka Doncic, which has been the talking point in everyone’s mind. Instead, the focus is shifting to Lakers owner Jeannie Buss after a spicy interview of hers resurfaced, where she goes over the unconventional living arrangements with husband Jay Mohr.
A resurfaced interview clip from In Depth with Graham Bensinger has gone viral, which features Jeannie Buss and Mohr talking to Bensinger about their sleeping arrangements without actually sharing a bedroom. In the interview, Buss explained that she occupies the third floor of their building, while Mohr lives on the first. Mohr then explained the reason for this arrangement.
We see each other every morning, every afternoon, and every night. When you’re home all alone in your bed, it’s like, guys are gross. Like we just make sounds. Like we sweat. The sheets get all wrinkly and weird. It’s like, oh let her sleep like a princess or a Barbie still in a box. She doesn’t need to be subjected to me in my wrestling sweatpants, just belching in my sleep.

Buss, 63, and Mohr, 54, tied the knot in 2023 after going public with their relationship in 2021. While celebrity marriages often come with extravagant lifestyles, their decision to live separately within the same building is certainly something that even the most extravagant celebrities may not relate to.
Buss described the living situation as something she would recommend to couples who value personal space – granted that they can afford such a setup. Despite their unconventional living situation, Jeannie Buss and Jay Mohr have shown great commitment in their relationship, with the Lakers owner sticking around with the standup comedian during his struggles with substance abuse as well.
Jeanie Buss once opened up about her relationship with Dennis Rodman
Before her marriage to Mohr, Jeannie Buss had a long history with the Lakers. Her previous high-profile relationship before Mohr was with legendary Lakers head coach Phil Jackson, to whom she was engaged until 2016. However, there is an intriguing connection between her and former NBA star Dennis Rodman.
During Rodman’s short stint with the Lakers, there were a lot of rumors of tension between him and the Lakers’ front office due to his speculated relationship with Jeannie Buss. While Rodman publicly claimed that they dated during his brief tenure with the Lakers, Buss firmly denied those claims during her interview with Graham Bensinger.
Jeannie Buss explained that when her father, former Lakers owner Jerry Buss, brought Rodman onto the team in 1999, she took on a role that was more about keeping tabs on him rather than anything romantic. Dennis Rodman had a notorious reputation for being a party animal, and the Lakers wanted to ensure he remained in check.
I did not date Dennis Rodman… I mean, yes, in other words, when my dad [former Lakers owner Jerry Buss] brought on Dennis Rodman to the team, it was kind of like, ‘Let’s make sure that we know where he is at all times… You could say it was dating to say that it was making sure that I had an eye on him.
Jeanie Buss asserted
Rodman’s time with the Lakers was short-lived, as he played just 23 games before being released due to off-court issues and reported tensions with the front office, and Lakers stars Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal over the attention he garnered due to his relationship with Buss. He later signed with the Dallas Mavericks in early 2000.
