The Golden State Warriors faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers in their final matchup during preseason ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season. Notably, this matchup was a particular showing of the younger stars of each side, with the Warriors winning over the Lakers. This meant that star players like Stephen CurryLeBron James, and Anthony Davis rested and watched the game from the sidelines.

However, what caught the NBA community’s attention was the Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari‘s post-match interview. Interestingly, OIivari had a great night against the Warriors, dropping 22 points on them. After the game, Olivari admitted that his ‘favorite player of all time’ was Warriors legend Stephen Curry. Not only that, he broke into tears while talking about his interaction with Curry post-game.

I don’t know coz I liked him since I was in 6th grade. I don’t even know what to say, man, that’s my favorite player. He told me that I’m a big fan of your game’ and truth be told I’m a big fan of him. You know, I had his jersey, he signed it twice, I used to sleep under his jersey (cries).

On the other hand, Olivari will be proud of the numbers he put up against one of the best teams in the Western Conference. The young rookie and his impressive performances could significantly help the Lakers in their efforts to reach the Finals again.

Not only Olivari but also another Lakers rookie, Bronny James, was on top of his game. He scored 17 points against the Warriors. Despite being on the losing side, the Lakers’ rookies had some important minutes under their belt before the star of the new season.

The Los Angeles Lakers rookie Quincy Olivari made his professional debut with his side last week against the Milwaukee Bucks. Notably, Olivari was visibly emotional post-game as he spoke to the reporters regarding the Lakers’ 107-103 win.

Olivari contributed significantly to the victory by pulling down five rebounds and scoring 11 points on 4 of 6 field goals. He was ecstatic after watching his name pop up on the ‘NBA Today” show. In an interview with John Ireland, Quincy Olivari expressed his feelings.

Wow, I was just watching NBA Today, and then I popped up on the screen, I’m just very very thankful. All honor and Glory goes to God. I really, honestly just want to get on the phone, call my dad and cry. I’m trying to fight tears now man, because this is crazy.

In addition, after the game, Lakers head coach JJ Redick praised Olivari. After the victory, Redick told reporters that Olivari’s enthusiasm ultimately helped Los Angeles win the game. That being said, Redick has several talented rookies at his disposal. Hence, it will be interesting to watch how he utilizes all these youngsters in the 2024-25 NBA season.
