It has been a while since Christian Wood was on an NBA court. Wood was undrafted in the 2015 NBA draft, as he was projected to be drafted late in the first round before his stock dropped. The 30-year-old has played for various franchises and was seen as more of a journeyman during his nine-year NBA career, such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons, Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Christian Wood‘s most productive seasons in the NBA came during his two-year spell with the Rockets. In the 2021-22 campaign, he featured in 68 games and averaged a double-double as he recorded 17.9 points and 10.1 rebounds.
After being traded to the Mavs, he had another successful season before moving to the Lakers. His time with the Lakers came to an abrupt end as he suffered a series of knee injuries and was eventually waived off.
Since then, Wood has made the headlines for his off-court drama. The situation between Wood and his ex-girlfriend, Yasmine Lopez, has been all over the place for a while now. The two even have a son together and the child has been stuck in a custody battle for over a year now.
The tensions between the two are at an all-time high right now as the former Lakers forward has accused Lopez of putting a hit on his life.
Former Los Angeles Lakers star Christian Wood was awarded sole custody of his 2-year-old son and a temporary restraining order against his ex-girlfriend Yasmine Lopez after accusing her of potentially playing a role in an attempt on his life, Us Weekly can exclusively report. Lopez adamantly denied the accusations and asked for court protection against Wood. She also disputed Wood has sole custody.
Wood had filed a petition in court on November 19 asking for a restraining order against Lopez and wanted her 100 yards away from him and their son at all times. A temporary restraining order and temporary sole custody of the son were granted by the court.
Intruders tried to break into Christian Wood’s home
At first, Wood believed the three intruders were robbers trying to break-in to his home and it was a burglary attempt. But later Wood realized that they were not robbers but hit-men hired by Lopez who wanted to end his life. What made Wood suspicious was that it took place when he was at home in broad daylight, and there were no burglary attempts within a 10-mile radius.
Wood went on to claim that Lopez was not agreeing to any visitation that week, but finally agreed he could pick up their son from school. When he arrived, he said she had already picked him up. He saw the three men outside his home again the next day which grew his suspicions even further.

Lopez even posted a violent King Von song with a gun emoji. Wood said:
The lyrics of the song explicitly describe a murder for hire and retaliation killing. This post was highly unusual for Ms. Lopez, suspicious in timing, and deeply disturbing given what happened shortly after…The coincidence, combined with her prior threats, history of violence, and the custody interference the day prior, leads me to reasonably believe it is more likely than not that she is responsible and/or connected to the attempt on my life.
The two started dating in August 2022 and split in just four months in December. It is disappointing to see things get so messy, as neither would have wanted the situation to get this bad, especially when a child is involved. A court hearing has been set for January 14, and the court will listen to both sides of the story.
