Lakers with Luka Doncic can clinch the No.2 seed in the West, feels Jay Williams
Former NBA player, Jay Williams had a clear message reagrding the Lakers and Luka Doncic after recent win over Mavs.

Luka Doncic
Every element of a must-watch game was present in Tuesday night’s Los Angeles Lakers vs. Dallas Mavericks contest. Two Western Conference rivals, a crowded stadium, and one main plot point: Luka Doncic‘s first-ever matchup with his old team. Notably, Doncic did not disappoint as he casually dropped a sensational triple-double on his former team.
This led to many NBA analysts and ex-players praising him in and around the league. One of them in particular was Jay Williams. The former point guard has spoken about the Lakers several times in the past. However, now with Doncic on the roster, he let out a bold take in a recent podcast show. Williams believes that the Lakers can clinch the ‘top 2 seed’ in the West.
I think they have a legitimate chance to chase that two-seed in the Western Conference right now.
Jay Williams said

Interestingly, Williams’ take comes after a series of good performances from Doncic alongside the likes of LeBron James and Austin Reaves. The Slovenian single-handedly outsmarted the Nuggets’ defense before stepping up once again, against his former side. As for the game, in Tuesday’s 107-99 victory in Los Angeles, Doncic finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists.
James contributed 12 rebounds and 27 points. On the other hand, Kyrie Irving, a guard with the Mavericks, scored a game-high 35 points but his efforts went into vain against a solid Lakers attack at the Crypto.com Arena. All eyes now drift onto the Lakers’ upcoming games going forward into the 2024-25 NBA season.
LeBron James had ‘kind’ words for Luka Doncic facing his former side for the first time
Luka Doncic faced the Dallas Mavericks for the first time following he was traded in a spectacular deal. The former Maverick joined teammate LeBron James and Denver Nuggets guard Russell Westbrook as the third player in NBA history to post a triple-double against all 30 opponents. Notably, James has nothing but kind words for Doncic regarding his matchup against his former side.
He’s grown from being an 18-, 19-year-old kid to now a 25-year-old man with a family. … And when you move on or they move on from you, it’s very emotional, obviously. It’s very taxing. It’s probably a lot of things that were going on in his head that probably didn’t even involve the game itself. And with that said, I thought he handled it tremendously.
LeBron James told the media
"I thought he handled it tremendously."

In addition, the Lakers are now 35-21 in the West and sit in 4th place on the table, trailing the likes of the Houston Rockets and the Memphis Grizzlies. With Doncic and Co. gaining form after each game, it will be interesting to watch how Lakers HC, JJ Reddick shapes up his side in a bid for a top-2 seed this season.
