LaLiga: Espanyol vs Real Madrid player ratings as Real Madrid continues to struggle

Real Madrid’s struggles continued as they slipped to a disappointing 2-1 defeat at Espanyol on Sunday. Raul de Tomas and former Barcelona man Aleix Vidal scored for the hosts as the Catalan club came away with a shock win.

Karim Benzema grabbed a goal back for Madrid but they were unable to grab an equaliser and suffered their first LaLiga defeat of the season. The result completes a poor week for Carlo Ancelotti’s men after they also slipped to a surprise loss to Sheriff in the Champions League.

Madrid dominated possession from the start but went behind after 23 minutes when de Tomas scored from close range. The visitors also struggled to make their dominance count and Espanyol doubled their lead on the hour mark when Vidal nutmegged Nacho and fired past Thibaut Courtois.

Benzema got Madrid back in the game 11 minutes later with a clinical finish into the bottom corner. With six minutes remaining, Madrid thought they grabbed an equaliser through Eden Hazard but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Diego Lopez-6 Even though he had only few shots to save he couldnt do anything contributive to the team.

Oscar Gil-7.5 Oscar had one of his best games.He gave so many through balls and was unstoppable.He would have been rated atleast 8/10 if it wasnt for the yellow card

Sergi Gomez-7.8 The Espanyol CB had a really good performance.He didnt let Benzema or Vinicius to pass through the defence that easily

Leandro Cabrera-6.5 Had a pretty disappointing performance compared to Gomez.He was the key reason behind Real Madrids goal as he let Benzema take a shot from outside the D box.

Adria Pedrosa-7 Pedrosa had a good performance.His defencive capabilities are absolutely outstanding.Altough he needs to work on his passes as it was a bit sloppy

Keidi Bare-7.5 Bare not only managed to provide a assist but also worked to hard in the midfield to intercept the passes from the RMA players.

Sergi Darder-8 Darder had a good performance as he defencively worked so hard for Espanyol.Outstanding performance.

Aleix Vidal-8 The former Barcelona man scored an amazing goal to give a 2 goal cushion for Espanyol.

Oscar Melendo- 8 Melendo created so many key chances for Espanyol and contributed massively in the midfield.

Adrian Embarba-8.5 Embarba created a massive chance for Raul de Tomas to score a important goal against his former team.

Raul de Tomas-9 The attacker had a good performance although he missed a couple of chances,he managed to score a important goal for them.

Manu Morlanes-6.5 Had a decent performance but gave away possesion in a couple of circumstances.

Lei wu-5 Even though he was subbed in during the 65 th minute he didnt have that much of impact to the team.

Courtois-6 The Belgium international had his worst game of the season so far.Real madrids defence just couldnt help courtois in any way.

David Alaba-7 Alaba had a pretty decent game to be honest.But let so many through balls and he just left the Espanyol players to dribble through him.

Nacho-5.9 Nacho had the worst game out of all the Real madrid players.He was the key reason behind the second goal but also saved a massive chance in the last minute to decrease the defecite.

Militao-6 Real Madrids defence is just not at its best nowadays.Militao was one of those players who had a disappointing performances.

Vazquez-7 Lucas had a decent game.Couldnt catch up with the Espanyol players several times but overral he had a decent contribution to the team

Camavinga-6.5 The Young French international had a good game for Real Madrid.Created a couple of chances for them but the attack just couldnt score.Also recieved an unnecessary yellow card.

Toni Kross-7 Kross had a really good performance.One of the key players who played at his best.But had a couple of bad timed tackles.

Valverde-8 Valverdes performance cant be expressed in words.What a man!His contribution to the attack was absolutely marvelous.

Luka Modric-6 Croatian had a disappointing performance.Had a couple of misspasses.A really average performance from him.

Vinicius-8 Vini had a good game.He created the first chance for benzema to score which was later disallowed by VAR.

Benzema-9 Benzema scored an outstanding solo goal for Real Madrid.If only it wasnt for VAR he could have scored a brace and saved real madrid from the lose.

Substitutes

Rodrygo-6 Even though he came in the 46 th minute,Rodrygo didnt do anything the entire game.He only had a couple of touches and couldnt prove himself.

Luca Jovic-8.5 The Serbian had a really good performance.Managed to provide a beautiful assist for Benzema and created a couple of good chances.

Casemiro-6 Casemiros defencive skills area absolutely ourstanding.But at the same time he lost posession in a couple of circumstances.
