Aiming for the AFC North contention, the Baltimore Ravens are preparing for a critical matchup in Week 16 against their archrivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although historically speaking, the latter carries a better record, especially against Lamar Jackson, the former Ravens’ star believes the quarterback can pull off a victory if he does one thing.

Jackson’s 1-4 record against Pittsburgh is well documented with many believing the Steelers defense forces the two-time NFL MVP to play differently. Given, that he has a notably low passer rating of 66.2, which is the worst against any opponents. During the recent episode of ESPN’s Get Up, former star player Bart Scott was asked to analyze how the quarterback can succeed with a victory against one of his biggest rivals.

The former Ravens linebacker emphasized that the only way possible for Jackson to come out victorious in Week 16 is to tap into his MVP-level performance.

He has to give them what they want,” said Scott, when asked about Jackson’s approach for the upcoming game.

He has to put on the cape and be the MVP. He has to take advantage of early downs… because that’s when he’s gonna get man-to-man.

Bart Scott added

The three-time Pro Bowler’s past performances against Pittsburgh have been less than stellar, with three of his worst career grades coming in games against the divisional rivals. If they succeed in a victory, they would tie with Pittsburgh in push for the AFC North title.

Lamar Jackson’s impressive stats challenge Josh Allen’s frontrunner status for NFL MVP

Jackson is entering Week 16 with the second-best odds of +500 to win the prestigious NFL MVP award, below the Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen at -900 odds. However, a former NLF coach, Jon Gruden believes the Ravens’ signal-caller is a more deserving candidate for the MVP honor as he has better overall stats than Allen.

The reigning MVP is ranked fifth in the league with 3,580 yards and 34 touchdowns, while the frontrunner Allen is ranked ninth with 3,395 yards and 25 touchdowns. The only category in which Allen surpasses Jackson is QBR, where he holds a top ranking of 79.3, placing him first in the league.

The Ravens are moving forward with the hope of clinching a playoff berth with a 9-5 record. The upcoming game is a must-win for them to ensure their spot in the postseason while having the divisional title to their name for consecutive years.
