Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry played their roles perfectly against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jackson threw three touchdowns, while Henry had 20 carries for 126 yards, and yet the Baltimore Ravens let the game and the season slip away from them with just one kick.
With the Cleveland Browns doing them a favor by defeating the Steelers in Week 17, the Ravens knew a win at Acrisure Stadium on the final day of the season would be enough to win the AFC North and qualify for the playoffs. Reality hit the Baltimore players hard when Aaron Rodgers threw a touchdown pass with fewer than one minute left until the final whistle.
The Steelers took a two-point lead but blew the chance to extend the gap further with kicker Chris Boswell missing on the extra point try. This gave the Ravens one final chance to win the game.
Jackson brought his team within field goal range. Tyler Loop was tasked to save the season. Sadly, he shanked the field goal from 44 yards. Cameras caught Jackson going through all the emotions as the ball sailed wide right of the goalpost.

The contest ended in a 24-26 defeat for the Ravens. They finished the year 8-9 and handed the division to the 10-7 Steelers.
Lamar Jackson misses the playoffs for only the second time in his career
The Ravens didn’t have a strong start to the season, losing to Buffalo on opening day. They went 2-2 before Jackson injured his hamstring. He missed the next four games, in which they went 1-3.

Jackson returned for the Dolphins game in week 9 and went on a four-game winning streak, followed by back-to-back defeats against the Bengals and the Steelers. The Ravens won just two of the last four games to close out the 2025 campaign.
Jackson had 11 completions from 18 pass attempts for 238 yards, along with four carries on the ground. Wide receiver Zay Flowers caught two of Jackson’s three TD passes and racked up 138 yards. The two-time NFL MVP said he was “devastated” and “furious” by the loss.
We did all that… [It] didn’t matter [in the end].

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh is one of the league’s longest-tenured coaches, but his position has come under threat during the barren spell. Hensley asked Jackson’s opinion on whether Harbaugh will still be around in 2026.
You are asking me about next year [Jamison]!!! I am so caught up in what just happened tonight. I can’t focus on [Harbaugh] right now… I am stunned [by the result]. I am still trying to process it.

Jackson wraps up the shortened year with his first losing (6-7) record. Moreover, it’s only the second time the Ravens won’t compete in the playoffs since he became the starter in 2019 (the last time the Ravens didn’t play was the 2021 season). It also marked Harbaugh’s third losing season in his 18-season tenure.

-Ravens are out of the playoffs for first time since 2021
-It’s third losing season in John Harbaugh’s 18 seasons
Following the loss, the Ravens secured the 14th overall pick in the 2026 draft, resulting in three selections within the top 80 at picks 14, 45, and 80.
