In Short
  • Lamar Jackson responded to Dan Orlovsky's comments about his playoff performance, asserting he has never made excuses.
  • The Baltimore Ravens traded for Maxx Crosby, aiming to bolster their defense and improve Super Bowl chances.
  • The Ravens lost center Tyler Linderbaum to the Raiders despite offering him a higher contract extension.

Emmanuel Acho isn’t the only former NFL player noting that Lamar Jackson has run out of excuses for not winning a Super Bowl, especially now that the Baltimore Ravens sent two first-round draft picks to the Las Vegas Raiders to land Maxx Crosby. Dan Orlovsky is the latest to point out the All-Pro quarterback’s dry spell in the playoffs.

In the recent episode of Get Up on ESPN, the crew discussed Crosby’s potential impact on the Ravens and whether this move makes them the favorites to win the Super Bowl. Baltimore started with favorable odds to win the Lombardi Trophy last season.

However, injuries to key players (Lamar) and uncharacteristic bad defense derailed their chances. The Ravens missed the playoffs entirely on the final day of the regular season.

Crosby is widely considered one of the few elite pass rushers in the NFL. Since entering the league, he has accumulated 69.5 sacks and 133 TFLs. His addition should increase the Ravens’ overall sack count, which stood at 30 in 2025.

According to Orlovsky, quarterback Lamar Jackson can no longer use the Ravens’ defense as an excuse for the team’s shortcomings.

I love Lamar. There ain’t no more excuses now. This is all in. Gotta get it done. It’s been that way; it’s even greater now.

Orlovsky said on Get Up

Jackson did not agree with the former quarterback who spent 12 years in the league. He promptly replied on X, “Dan there has never been excuses for Lamar though.

Orlovsky later gave props to Jackson. “You’re right [Lamar]….not needed though…Go get ya one.

Clearly, Jackson has nothing to prove to anyone. Sure, a ring has eluded him thus far, but he is a two-time MVP with a 76-31 win/loss record in the league. Then again, it’s the postseason record that worries most analysts. Lamar is 3-5 with one AFC Championship appearance under his belt.

Emmanuel Acho made a similar argument on Speakeasy. The former FOX Sports employee pointed out that the Ravens roster features several prominent players, such as Derrick Henry, Marlon Humphrey, and Kyle Hamilton. Crosby only makes the team even better.

Moreover, the Ravens have an entirely new coaching team, headed by former Chargers DC Jesse Minter. Jackson will also get the opportunity to learn from Declan Doyle, who, despite being young, has played a big role in jump-starting Caleb Williams career.

The Ravens might have a shot at winning the Super Bowl, especially if they’ve gotten a bit of a boost from the NFL. According to league sources, the Ravens have the 24th-toughest schedule in 2025, with opponents averaging a .479 win rate.

Lamar Jackson loses his trusted offensive lineman to the Raiders

A couple of days after the Crosby trade, the Ravens lost their 3x Pro Bowl center, Tyler Linderbaum, to the Raiders. Linderbaum was set to hit free agency while his agents kept working on negotiations with the Ravens.

On Monday, the 25-year-old opted to sign a three-year deal worth $81 million, or an average annual value of $27 million. However, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic tweeted that Linderbaum joined the Raiders, despite the Ravens being prepared to offer him a four-year, $88 million extension.

Linderbaum is a big loss for the Ravens because the former 25th overall pick committed just 19 total penalties (accepted) in 4114 offensive snaps in four years.
