Despite being among the top quarterbacks in the league, Lamar Jackson often comes under scrutiny over his inability to win the Super Bowl. Whenever he is asked about the hatred and criticism he endures because of this, the star quarterback uses a bizarre Jesus reference– which many times has been interpreted in a wrong way.

That’s why while discussing his critics in his interview with GQ Sports, the Baltimore Ravens’ signal-caller cleared his stance on his famous ‘Jesus reference.’ He also shared how he dealt with the criticism and hate from fans in a time when one could access the entire world via the tip of their fingers across the world.

I always say this: People hated Jesus. Not to compare myself to Jesus, but it's like if he got hated and he still was a good person and still did follow through with his purpose, why can't I?
Lamar Jackson told interviewer Matthew Roberson

Jackson may not consider himself sharing the vicinity as Jesus but he does put himself on a pedestal sharing the level of criticism and adversity he has faced in the league can hardly be overcome by others. By those people, he meant people with weaker minds or souls. Nonetheless, the only way the reigning NFL MVP can put a full stop to this criticism is by winning the Super Bowl game and earning the championship title.

Lamar Jackson’s journey from humble beginnings to financial success

The Ravens’ star signal-caller was recently named in the highest-paid NFL players list by Forbes 2024 list with a net worth of around $40 million. As comfortable as Jackson is these days financially, he grew up in a poor household with an aspiration to become rich.

I knew I wanted to be rich and for my people to be well-off. I don’t want to be around chaos. I was always goofy, but I always talked about football. My friends were grown-ass men. We’re 12 and 13, they were already doing shit like the older guys.
