The Baltimore Ravens, whose offense was ranked among the best in the league, fell to their knees before the Philadelphia Eagles’ defense, resulting in a 24-19 road victory for Philly. Unfortunately for Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, he didn’t have to wait for the critics to share their opinions—his mother was already there.

Following the disappointing loss, Jackson revealed that his mother, Felicia Jones, did not hold back in expressing her displeasure with his performance. She believed the Ravens had several opportunities to exploit the Eagles on the ground and felt her son could have done more to lead the team to a 9-4 record instead of dropping to 8-5.

My momma just told me that. She just cussed me out, so I’m mad. She said there were lanes I should’ve took and ran. I was just trying to let guys develop routes and I was just trying to go through my progressions. But yeah, she’s right.

Lamar Jackson told the media on Sunday

The Ravens started the game with a strong lead of 9-0, but couldn’t keep up their form against the strong defense presented by the Eagles, who marked their eighth straight win of the season. Jackson finished the game by completing 23-of-36 for 237 yards and two touchdowns.

Saquon Barkley shines as Eagles’ MVP candidate with 107 yards against Ravens

The biggest credit behind Philly’s success this season has been running back Saquon Barkley, whom they acquired in free agency this offseason. Becoming the NFL’s leading rusher in his debut season in Philadelphia, Barkley dropped another standout performance against the Ravens.

He finished the game with 107 yards, 23 carries, and a touchdown, making a strong case for himself in the NFL MVP race. After his impressive touchdown, the Baltimore crowd rewarded him with MVP chants as reported by ESPN’s Tim McManus.

Even Eagles QB Jalen Hurts heaped praise on his RB. After the win, Hurts credited Barkley’s consistency.

I give a lot of credit to how our O-line played in those moments and how [Saquon Barkley] is persistent in getting downhill and kind of finishing. I see him on our team this year making a big impact in those moments, especially when you have to lean on him in the end of games when we’re up.

Even though the Ravens have one of the top running backs and his rival, Derrick Henry, Barkley was unstoppable and overshadowed Henry, who recorded 82 yards on 19 attempts. Rallying more than 1,499 rushing yards, Barkley has now recorded eight games out of twelve with more than 100 rushing yards.
