It’s uncommon for a guy like Lamar Jackson to face media scrutiny, especially over his beliefs. Any football fan who follows the Baltimore Ravens’ star quarterback will attest to his faith in God. So, it was a shock when Jackson retweeted a post that aligned with his life and upbringing.

Before the second round of preseason fixtures kicked off on Sunday, fans noticed a fresh retweet from Jackson. It was a tweet from Charlie Kirk.

For those who keep politics at arm’s length, Kirk is a conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk tweeted,”It’s all about Jesus.”

Jackson then retweeted the quote. The post went viral in mere moments. Confused fans were left wondering the reason behind Jackson’s sudden urge to support Kirk. The backlash was severe.

Jackson grew up in a Christian family. From an early age, he came to appreciate the love and power of Jesus Christ.

In January 2024, the Ravens put 37 points past the Dolphins in a regular-season game. Jackson notched 18 completions from 21 attempts for 321 yards and five touchdowns. After the game, the Louisville graduate dedicated the win to God.

I just thank God for [giving me the health to play]; I should have started the presser off by thanking God. …The last two seasons, I wasn’t able to fight with my team. I had to do it from the sidelines and just cheer guys on. But I’m grateful for the opportunity.

Jackson finished the year with 67.2% completion for 3678 yards, 29 overall touchdowns, and 7 picks to bag his second league MVP trophy. During the presentation ceremony, Jackson began his acceptance speech by saying,“First and foremost, I want to give the glory to my lord and savior, Jesus Christ.”

Former wide receiver claims Lamar Jackson deserved to win his third MVP in 2024-25 season

There was much debate after the Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen edged out Jackson to secure the 2024-25 NFL MVP trophy. Fans, analysts, and former and current players shared varied opinions on why Jackson deserved it over Allen.

Nearly six months later, retired Ravens receiver Dez Bryant tweeted,

I literally just finished watching Lamar Jackson’s 2024 season highlights…they robbed my boy of the MVP last year.

Although Bengals’ Joe Burrow secured the triple crown, Jackson led the league in yards per throw (8.8), passer rating (119.6), and yards per carry (6.6). He also logged 316 completions (66.7%), 4172 passing yards (first time in his NFL career), 45 overall touchdowns, 139 carries, and 915 rushing yards.

Compared to Jackson, Allen posted 307 completions (63.6%) for 3731 yards, 40 overall touchdowns, and 102 carries for 531 yards on the ground.

These two athletes met in the AFC divisional round game. Allen came out on top. During the post-match interview, Allen claimed Jackson is “one of the greatest to ever step on the field.”

Jackson can exact his revenge in week one of the 2025-26 season. Before that, the Ravens have a tricky final preseason fixture against the Washington Commanders in the nation’s capital.
