Since his return, the Baltimore Ravens have looked like a team caught in a fierce crosswind, off-balance and scrambling for control. In the past three games, Lamar Jackson, a two-time league MVP, has posted zero passing touchdowns, zero rushing touchdowns, three interceptions, three lost fumbles, and has been sacked nine times.
The recent slump has invited a lot of criticism for the Ravens’ signal-caller. Amidst the sea of nefarious comments, a Pittsburgh radio host, Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan, called for a consensus about how Jackson is ranked among the quarterbacks. He suggested that Jackson is a bit overrated.
Can we all agree that Lamar Jackson is at the very least a little overrated? pic.twitter.com/GrKI6peO4F

Jackson instantly clapped back at Fillipponi with a one-word counter. “Sayless.”

Fillipponi made several other crushing remarks about the Ravens and Jackson amid the game. He initially made fun of a fumble Jackson made when the score was 3-7 and commented, “Lamar Jackson in postseason form.” He also declared that he would prefer Joe Burrow over Jackson at any given time while also praising the former for his skills.
The radio host even suggested that the Bengals may end up winning the AFC North despite the rocky defense they have. Yet another of his predictions was that the Steelers will defeat the Ravens in either one of the two games they have against them. The Steelers play the Ravens next week.
Meanwhile, the “overrated remarks” aren’t a first for Lamar Jackson this season. A few weeks ago, Alex Kay of Bleacher Report ranked Jackson as the most overrated quarterback in the league, ahead of Jordan Love and Justin Herbert. Kay noted that Jackson is not just an overrated quarterback of this era, but all-time. The concerns at the time, noted by Kay, were the lack of playoff success.
Even with two MVPs to his name, Jackson’s 3–5 postseason mark is regularly cited as a counterpoint to his otherwise sparkling resume.
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens have a tough road to the playoffs
The Baltimore Ravens have five games left in the season. The remaining schedule starts with the Pittsburgh Steelers at the home stadium next week. The Steelers started the season with a comfortable 4-1 before losses landed them at 6-5 heading into Week 13.

The Steelers are a threat with Aaron Rodgers coming back from the hand injury, which put him out of the field against the Chicago Bears last week. The Steelers are also improving their run offense, and they still are a threat to the Ravens. They will once again face the same Steelers to finish out their season.
They also have one more game pending against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals, despite their weak defense, were able to wipe out the Ravens on Thanksgiving as a resurgent Joe Burrow spearheaded with a two-touchdown, 261-yard performance. The Ravens play the Bengals immediately after the game against the Steelers next week.
In Week 16, they will face the current conference leader New England Patriots, and face the Green Bay Packers in the following week. The Patriots have emerged as a true Super Bowl contender with ten wins and two losses so far. They have made a reputation as a top team, with Dave Portnoy claiming that the AFC once again will rest with the Pats for years to come. The Packers are also no small opponent.
The best way for the Ravens is to beat out the divisional rivals. It is highly unlikely that there would be two teams from the AFC North. The Ravens, if they figure out what’s wrong with Lamar Jackson and figure it out before it becomes too late, are still very much alive in the playoff race and the division title hunt.
