Lamar Jackson made a big play even though it is still the offseason. The Baltimore Ravens quarterback recently made a fan’s day better who is battling cancer.
On Thursday, Jackson put out a video message addressed to Isaiah in his fight against cancer. Jackson advised Isaiah to have faith in God.
Isaiah, it’s your guy Lamar Jackson here. I just want to let you know my thoughts and prayers go out to you, man. Keep God first, keep battling.
Lamar Jackson said
This wasn’t the first time the world witnessed the softer side of Jackson. In 2016, Jackson was the quarterback of the Louisville Cardinals, who were due to face Duke in week 7.

The 28-year-old, right before the game, paid a visit to a young girl named Amzie Smith of Louisville’s Ballard High School. Smith battled cancer for a long time and was really happy after meeting with the future Heisman Trophy winner.
Jackson hugged Smith and gave her a football before departing for the game. Lamar Jackson is a true role model.
Lamar Jackson is in line for a massive contract upgrade
There’s no question that Jackson is a top five quarterback. His two league MVP trophies prove that he deserves all the praise and the riches that come with being a top NFL QB.

Ravens fans might argue he was robbed of a third MVP in 2024. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was voted the best player, even though Jackson threw 316 completions for a career-best 4172 yards (66.7 yards per game), 41 passing touchdowns, just four interceptions, and a passer rating of 119.6 (best in the league). He further added 139 rushes on the ground for 915 yards, 6.6 yards per carry (better than Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry), and four rushing touchdowns.
The Ravens gave Jackson a five-year contract worth $260 million, with $185 million guaranteed in 2023. However, the market has reset a couple of times since then, most notably when the Dallas Cowboys agreed to a $60 million+ per year deal with quarterback Dak Prescott in 2024.
Head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that the Ravens are considering restructuring Lamar’s contract to provide him with an improved deal to make him the highest-paid player in the NFL. However, it will not be easy because there’s a $70 million cap hit in 2026.
CBS Sports analyst Joe Corry masterfully broke down the path the Ravens should take to give Lamar Jackson a new contract.
Patience can be Jackson’s best friend because his salary cap number jumps from $43.5 million in 2025 to an unmanageable $74.5 million in 2026 and also in 2027. The $74.5 million is 2026’s third-highest cap number. Fortunately for Jackson, Harbaugh conceded at the league meetings that Jackson was going to be put back at the top of the NFL salary hierarchy with his next contract.
Joe Corry wrote
There’s still time for the Ravens’ brass to look at every possible method to give Lamar a solid contract.
However, Jackson needs to keep delivering the wins and focus less on his career in acting, as Coach Harbaugh instructed following his cameo in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
The Ravens began their OTAs this week, and Jackson looked sharp, throwing passes to new wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins. They play three preseason games against the Colts, Cowboys, and Commanders before week one kickoff in Buffalo against the Bills on September 7.
