In Short
  • Lamar Jackson vows to fulfill the wish of a 101-year-old WWII veteran to see the Ravens win the Super Bowl.
  • The veteran's health is deteriorating, and he is currently hospitalized.
  • The Ravens are undergoing changes with a new head coach and a focus on improving their defense.

The pressure is mounting on Lamar Jackson, and it’s not even March yet. A few days after Declan Doyle made training camp participation mandatory for everyone, Jackson received encouraging words from a local fan.

An X account belonging to a Ravens fan named Tim Cain tagged Jackson to post a tweet that contained a couple of photos. In one of the pictures, an elderly man can be seen holding Lamar’s #8 jersey, and the other one had a message for the All-Pro quarterback.

The message revealed the man’s identity—a 101-year-old WWII veteran who wants to see “Lamar Jackson and the Ravens win the Super Bowl.”

However, the old man doesn’t have much time left on this earth. His health is “deteriorating, and over the past few days, he’s fallen a few times. He is currently in the hospital.”

Jackson left a prayer for “Pop” in the comment section and vowed to make the Ravens champions for the third time in the team’s history.

I Pray in the name of Jesus we can make it happen just so Pop can see us.

The two NFL MVP trophies in his cabinet are living proof that Jackson possesses all the tools necessary to become a Super Bowl champion. He is arguably the best dual-threat quarterback in NFL history and among the best in the current crop of signal callers.

That said, he has yet to play in a championship game, let alone win one. That may soon change under the new regime. After the Ravens fired John Harbaugh, they appointed former Chargers DC Jesse Minter as the new head coach. Minter brought in Declan Doyle as his offensive coordinator, and during his inaugural press conference, Doyle urged every Raven to attend the training camp.

Retired NFL wide receiver Chad Johnson did not appreciate Doyle’s tone, considering he’s the new man in the building.

You don’t do that coming in as a new coach! It’s dumb and it’s stupid! Why would you p*** off your QB with a message like that! It’s stupid!

Johnson said on the Nightcap podcast

Before the camp season arrives, Minter and his crew must patch the holes in the roster. NFL.com‘s Matt Okada urged the Ravens to make quality additions.

A couple of years ago, Baltimore’s defensive front was a strength, anchoring the top-scoring defense in the NFL. In 2025, it was a weakness. Perhaps through both free agency and the draft, the Ravens should focus on restoring their defensive front at the start of the Jesse Minter era.

As recently as 2023, the Ravens were known for boasting one of the best defenses in the league, but that was barely visible in 2025. Baltimore ranked 24th-best overall defense last year, allowing 354.5 yards per game.

Tragic news gripped the NFL world on Saturday night. Viking wide receiver Rondale Moore, who previously suited up for the Cardinals and the Falcons, died at the tender age of 25.

The local police discovered his body in his apartment’s garage in New Albany, Indiana. Early investigations indicated that he may have died due to a self-inflicted wound. However, the actual cause will only show up in the autopsy report.

Prayers for Moore and his family poured in from all over the country. Lamar Jackson retweeted a message from former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson shortly after Moore’s death became public knowledge.

The Vikings released a statement,

We are deeply saddened by the heartbreaking news of Rondale Moore’s sudden passing. Our thoughts are with Rondale’s family and friends during this devastating time.

The story of Moore’s death is still developing. But it’s also a reminder that a football player’s life is not always filled with glam and glitter; there is also darkness stemming from injuries and a series of bad events.
