Even though Lamar Jackson carried an injury, he wasn’t scheduled to take any reps in the Baltimore Ravens’ preseason finale against the Washington Commanders. Jackson was seen relaxing with his teammates in street clothes in the Ravens’ dugout.
John Harbaugh handed the job of taking care of the Commanders to Cooper Rush and David Leary. The pair combined racked up 120 passing yards from 22 completions to set up two rushing touchdowns.
A Jayden Daniels-less Commanders struggled to cope with the Ravens’ defense. Former Notre Dame shot caller Sam Hartman turned the ball over twice, while veteran journeyman Josh Johnson threw one interception.
The Ravens closed out their preseason adventure with a 30-3 victory. However, the win was overshadowed by a viral clip from inside the Northwest Stadium.
The video revealed a fan (presumably a Commanders supporter) heckling Jackson by chanting ‘loser’ near the entrance of the stadium tunnel. However, that’s not the viral content, because supporters nag opposition players all the time.
It is, in fact, Jackson’s reaction to the taunt that has been making the rounds on the internet. A bemused Jackson turned around and made an obscene gesture at the fan before disappearing into the tunnel.

Unlike Jackson, Michael Penix Jr. wasn’t in the mood to forgive his heckler. The Atlanta Falcons visited the AT&T Stadium for their second preseason fixture featuring the Dallas Cowboys. After the game, he was heading back to the tunnel when a fan mispronounced his last name, ‘P***’
Penix quickly fired back at the fan,“What’d you call me?”
My QB1 ain’t no bitch! 🤬

Fortunately for the fan, the second year dropped the issue; otherwise, he could have been in serious trouble. A TV station came under intense scrutiny after misidentifying him as “Michael Pe***” earlier this month.

Elsewhere, Geno Smith moved from the Seattle Seahawks to the Las Vegas Raiders in the offseason to reunite with his former coach, Pete Carroll. Smith returned to Seattle with the Raiders for their preseason friendly when a fan displayed a banner implying the veteran Pro Bowler was a bust.
The NFL has guidelines to deal with troublemakers. Perhaps they should also whip something up for the fans who misbehave with the athletes.
Lamar Jackson injury update
Jackson hurt his foot during team drills at Ravens practice on Wednesday. According to reports from the Ravens website, one of his teammates accidentally stepped on his foot, causing discomfort for the two-time NFL MVP.

The news caused widespread hysteria among the Ravens fans. Jackson stepped in to calm the situation down with a cheeky social media comment.

X-ray reports revealed that it was a minor injury, and Lamar Jackson should completely recover for the Ravens’ week one clash against the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills fixture is a rematch of last season’s AFC divisional round game. Despite Jackson completing 72% of his passes for 254 yards and 2 passing touchdowns, he was let down by an interception and a dropped catch by tight end Mark Andrews. The game ended in a narrow 27-25 victory for the Bills.
According to some pundits, the game decided the fate of the 2024 league MVP. Jackson finished second in the voting by racking up 316 completions for 4172 yards (8.8 yards per throw) for 41 touchdowns and 4 picks, along with 139 carries for 915 yards (6.6 yards per carry) to score 4 touchdowns on the ground.
