The Baltimore Ravens have picked up from where they left off. Unfazed by the poor start, Lamar Jackson and his squad cruised towards their fifth win of the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Jackson, was, no doubt, the same explosive guy as last year when he won his second MVP, if not, better. The University of Louisville (UofL) product put forth a near-perfect showcase with five touchdowns in the game with just five incompletions. The performance solidified once again the threat posed by the Ravens and the 27-year-old Jackson.

In fact, ESPN presenter Mike Greenberg couldn’t hold himself back from comparing Jackson to Peyton Manning. Manning, considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time won two championships and five NFL MVPs in his career. In his illustrious career, Manning racked up 71,940 passing yards with over 500 touchdowns combined in Indianapolis and Denver.

Lamar Jackson, he reminds me of Peyton Manning. It reminds me Peyton early in his career won a bunch of MVPs couldn’t get over the one hump, couldn’t be Brady.

Peyton Manning won his first Super Bowl in the ninth year of career, when the Indianapolis Colts rallied to defeat the Chicago Bears in the 2006 season. Lamar Jackson, as Greenberg noted, is in his seventh year. The veteran broadcaster noted whether 2024 is finally the year Jackson marches to his first Super Bowl and wins it.

Jackson has been previously compared to Manning. Bomani James also admitted the same reasoning to call Jackson, the Manning of this generation. The Ravens QB hasn’t been successful in the postseason despite being a top-five quarterback in his league. James, however, also noted that thinking that Jackson is not a Top 5 seems like an absurd choice to him.

The Baltimore Ravens came back from 10-0, scoring 34 unanswered points to win the match. Lamar Jackson has defeated a team from the NFC 23 times while only losing once, to the New York Giants in 2022. The 23-1 record held by Jackson is the best by a quarterback against an opposing conference.

Jackson completed 17 of his 22 passes for 281 yards. He threw five touchdowns for the fifth time in his career. The Buccaneers’ game saw Jackson maintaining a better completion rate (77.3%) than his previous five TD games with 22 or more passes. According to BetMGM, Jackson enters Week 8 with the most odds for another NFL MVP badge under his name. In addition to 281 passing yards, Jackson also made 52 rushing yards.

On top of all this, Jackson found new ways to amaze fans and silence critics questioning his capabilities. With the Ravens comfortably ahead in the fourth quarter, he threw a crucial block on Derrick Henry’s 39-yard run. The Ravens will play a struggling Cleveland Browns on Sunday before playing Manning’s old team Denver Broncos in the successive week.
