Last Thursday, analyst Nick Wright shocked everyone with his list of top five quarterbacks in the NFL where he surprisingly snubbed off the reigning NFL MVP and one of the highest-paid athletes across the world – Lamar Jackson over Matthew Stafford, who missed out most of last season due to injury.
The No. 1 quarterback in Wright’s list was Patrick Mahomes, which was predictable since the analyst is a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan. And anyone who watches football would agree that Mahomes has rightfully earned his place on that list. Pat was followed by Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, C.J. Stroud, and Stafford. Although the top four quarterbacks on that list seemed reasonable, what shocked many was the Los Angeles Rams’ quarterback, Stafford.
Given, that Jackson is not only just the reigning NFL MVP but also one of the only 11 quarterbacks in NFL history to have won more than one MVP honors. Currently, he is one of the only three active quarterbacks with that distinction in the league.
As the news reached the Baltimore Ravens star, he took a brutal jab at the Fox Sports analyst on social media.

But that wasn’t the end. The two-time MVP winner then took a dig at Wright’s ‘nose’, reflecting he wasn’t happy with his oversight on top quarterbacks.

Why did Nick Wright snub Lamar Jackson off the top quarterbacks list?
While listing the top quarterbacks in the NFL as per his opinion, Wright acknowledged the Ravens’ star’s repertoire and explained why he left Jackson behind. The analyst argued that Jackson caused unreasonable expectations of himself from fans after the stellar regular season, where the Ravens dominated the AFC.
He mentioned that Jackson has never led his team to the Super Bowl and just like always, he once again struggled in the playoffs. Even though Wright’s assessment of the Ravens’ star QB is fair, it does not justify why he picked Stroud– whose team was eliminated from the playoffs following a defeat to the Ravens.
Every year of his career, he has had his worst game of the season in the playoffs. Every single year of his career. Sorry. I mean, score more than 10 points in a home conference championship game.Nick Wright said on his podcast ‘What’s Right? With Nick Wright’
Wright also included Caleb Williams, the rookie who hasn’t played a single snap in the NFL yet. Given Jackson’s stats and accomplishments as a leading quarterback, he indeed deserves a place in the NFL’s top quarterback list, at least ahead of a rookie QB.
