The 2018 NFL Draft saw plenty of star players going off the board. Two of them, Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen, collided in the Divisional round and were billed to be the game of the week. However, there was going to be one outcome from the Ravens-Bills game, as only one of them was going to win.

Lamar Jackson had his own set of problems early on but then came back to come within touching distance of the Bills. However, two costly turnovers, the second with the game on the line from Mark Andrews, settled the score.

Josh Allen and his Buffalo Bills now move on to the AFC Championship game, whereas Jackson and his Baltimore Ravens end another season in disappointment. But towards the end of the game, they both ran towards each other to embrace. When asked what the Ravens QB said to his fellow Draft classmate after the game, he said.

You know we competing. Don’t get me wrong, but hats off to him. Hat’s off to me, that’s what he said to me. Great players recognize greatness and we both recognize each other. But I told him man, go get something. Go win something, man. MVP, Super Bowl do something. I want him to be successful.

Lamar Jackson said

The 28-year-olds have been locked in a battle for this year’s MVP award. Jackson has won it twice, whereas Allen hasn’t seen his name on a major award since coming into the league. The Ravens QB wants his fellow peer to win either the MVP or a Super Bowl or even both.

Lamar Jackson has greater odds of winning MVP over Josh Allen

Lamar Jackson might have good intentions when wanting his fellow quarterback to win the MVP, but this season, it is unlikely that Josh Allen can win. The Baltimore Ravens QB has been statistically better in the regular season than the Bills QB, even if the latter finished with a better record.

Both the AP as well as players have voted Jackson as a 1st team All-Pro QB. The AP is what decides the league MVP, and usually, their 1st team QB wins the award. Even if they have a change of heart, the statistics do not lie that the Ravens QB had a better individual effort.

But if Josh Allen can win a Super Bowl, he can etch his name into the history books. Once that happens, both fellow draft classmates will seemingly ensure they wear a gold jacket after they retire. Then they can probably laugh and joke about it as Jackson said they would.
