Receiving the honor of being labeled as “MVP” by the audience is always a moment to cherish, however, Lamar Jackson needed the crowd to be quiet in the critical moment on a 3rd and 1 play in the fourth quarter.

In another standout performance, the Baltimore Ravens quarterback demonstrated why he has previously won the NFL MVP twice. His remarkable victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round significantly bolstered his chances of securing the prestigious MVP honor for the third time.

However, the star quarterback is aiming much higher than just an MVP honor. While he appreciates the confidence Ravens fans have in him, he needed them to tone down the “MVP” chants, as they were interfering with the team’s strategic hurdle during the critical 3rd and 1 play in the final moments of the game.

He stepped away from the huddle and animately signaled for the fans to hush so the Ravens could line up for the essential third-down play. He needed the fans to offer silent prayers for the team rather than chant for him, to make the game-winning play and it turned around pretty well for Baltimore. After positioning himself, Jackson effortlessly maneuvered through the weak defense of the Steelers for a first down, helping to run down the clock to seal the victory at 28-14.

As far as the MVP is concerned, the Ravens fans are convinced that Jackson would receive the honor for the third time. But until the Buffalo Bills take the field against the Denver Broncos, Jackon will remain behind Josh Allen in the MVP race.

He reportedly received more votes than Allen, who was the heavy favorite for the MVP award until the Ravens’ Saturday victory that advanced them to the divisional round in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Allen was named the second-team quarterback.

Besides Jackson, another MVP contender– below Allen– received first-team selection: the Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, who was left just 105 yards away from breaking the NFL’s most-rushing yards record in a single season.
