The Baltimore Ravens kicked off the season with a loss against the Buffalo Bills at their home, followed by a win against divisional rivals Cleveland Browns, before the Detroit Lions got the better of them on Monday. The Ravens, considered a tournament favorite, find themselves among the bottom sixteen in the league with a 1-2 record heading into the fourth week of the season.
In three weeks, the Ravens have put a combined 111 points on the board. The Ravens’ combined points in the first three weeks of the season are the highest ever for a team with a losing record. In Week 3, the Bills overcame a sixteen-point deficit in the fourth quarter, thanks to Josh Allen’s incredible performance on foot and through the air.

John Harbaugh calls for urgent fix in Ravens defense before Chiefs showdown
The Baltimore Ravens’ defense was paltry on Monday, allowing 30 points and 226 rushing yards. The Ravens failed to record a sack and allowed the Detroit Lions to run two touchdown drives of at least 96 yards.

The Ravens’ head coach, John Harbaugh, was blunt about it in the press conference as well. He admitted that the Ravens’ locker room collectively thought that they were not even good enough.
The biggest problem is we didn’t play good defense. There’s nobody in that locker room that thinks that’s good enough. That’s not who we are. It cannot be who we are. It’s not good enough, it’s not acceptable.
Veteran defenders Roquan Smith and Kyle Hamilton later acknowledged that the team fell short of the defensive standard the franchise is known for. The Ravens take on the Chiefs in the next game, with two teams desperate to move from their losing record. Harbaugh admitted that the Ravens will figure things out before the rivalry clash.
We’ve got some things we need to get better at. We’ve got things we’re going to be disappointed in when we watch that tape. We need to play better than we did.

Marlon Humphrey: "We're just not very good."
Kyle Hamilton: "No excuses can be made at this point."
John Harbaugh: "That's bad run defense. … It's not gonna be acceptable."

Ultimately, the defeat may prove less a verdict on the Ravens’ toughness. Instead, it serves as a timely reminder that their trademark defensive grit must be rebuilt if they hope to contend deep into the season.
