This is the 6th season LaMelo Ball has been wearing Charlotte Hornets colors, as he continues to be their most important superstar and primary ball handler.

Over those years, he has averaged 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 7.5 assists, earning him 1 All-Star selection, as he battled injuries in every season.

The Hornets, after Michael Jordan sold it to Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall, have focused on youth, as their draft selections over the past few years have proved.

They even traded away some young core pieces, such as PJ Washington and Mark Williams, to make way for new prospects. Despite those roster moves and having former Boston Celtics assistant Charles Lee as their head coach, their record has not improved.

The Hornets are still pegged in the bottom 4 of the relatively weaker Eastern Conference. Yahoo Sports’ National NBA reporter Kelly Iko wrote on X that due to the constant losing, LaMelo Ball has grown frustrated and has indicated that he is open to a trade.

Such news would instantly catch the attention of everyone associated with the NBA, and the post quickly went viral, with millions of views and reposts, and shares by some top news aggregators. Soon, the star point guard chanced upon this post.

He replied to Iko’s original post with a ‘clown’ emoticon, suggesting the reporter had got it all wrong with that supposed scoop. This reaction somehow throws those rumors out of the window, as it seems Ball wants to stay with the Hornets.

LaMelo Ball’s father, LaVar Ball, had fanned the flames of a trade earlier

LaMelo Ball might have called Kelly Iko a ‘clown’ for supposedly revealing a questionable scoop. However, in the offseason, the Hornets star’s father, LaVar Ball, had fanned the flames of a potential future trade.

The Clippers! Bring those god-damn ball boys home, and let’s go get this championship and quit messing around. All you fans who want a championship back in LA. Yes! Whole new arena with the Ball boys? Who ain’t gonna go watch that show?

LaVar Ball said on social media

After recently losing his leg to diabetes, the CEO of Big Baller Brand talked about how the Indiana Pacers have proved that pace and spacing can impact winning.

If they could use those skills to reach the NBA Finals and play against another opponent in the Oklahoma City Thunder, who also use variants of those schemes, so could the Los Angeles Clippers.

Ball Sr. called out billionaire Steve Ballmer to bring his two sons, LaMelo Ball and Lonzo Ball, to Intuit Dome and also sign LiAngelo Ball as a backup rotation piece.

He believes his three sons complement each other well enough to make the Clippers into a competitive team. However, with the spate of injuries the Ball brothers have suffered, such moves are unlikely.

LaMelo Ball and Hornets teammates spent time at rookie’s house

Even if there could be any truth about LaMelo Ball’s interest in leaving the Charlotte Hornets, there was no doubt that he enjoys his time with his current teammates.

Their 1st round pick this year, Kon Kneuppel, a Milwaukee native, invited his teammates to his family home. A picture shared by his mother, Chari Nordgaard Knueppel, shows the Hornets players smiling before digging into the food.

Videos shared by the franchise on their official pages reveal Ball having a great time with his rookie, as well as his brothers. If anything, this team bonding session could help start a spark among the young Hornets to have their best season in years.
