In Short
  • LaMelo Ball was involved in a head-on car crash in Charlotte, damaging his custom $150K Hummer EV Truck.
  • He escaped the crash unharmed, but the other vehicle was nearly totaled.
  • Fans criticized his driving skills, citing previous incidents and calling for better driver training.

Since the turn of the new year, the Charlotte Hornets have been on a tear, winning 15 of their last 22 games as LaMelo Ball and his crew turned up the heat with their collective effort.

That heat may have been a bit too much when they faced the East-leading Detroit Pistons days before the All-Star break, but it was necessary to stand their ground.

The Hornets are no longer the perennial underdogs in the league, and even have Charles Barkley believing in them to make a late surge to earn a playoff spot.

For that to happen, the franchise needs its players to perform at their best and stay healthy. In the latter department, LaMelo Ball has not been the best example, as he has missed more games than he has been eligible to play in his career.

Earlier, the 24-year-old nearly saw his name join the injury report again when he was involved in a car crash in Charlotte, North Carolina. Video released by WSOCTV’s Joe Bruno shows the guard crashing his custom $150k Hummer EV Truck head-on with another car.

It was at an intersection, which means either LaMelo Ball was distracted while driving or he simply lost his bearings. Most importantly, he escaped the crash unharmed.

Fans troll LaMelo Ball for head-on crash

Basketball fans have already seen clips of LaMelo Ball driving his many custom cars out of Spectrum Center. That is why they would not be surprised to see him in some sort of car crash.

What surprised them was how badly this crash happened, as the other car was almost written off as a total loss, especially since his father claimed to have had the Ball brothers learn to drive since the age of 12.

They believe this was bound to happen, as the former third-overall pick has proven that he is not a good driver. For him to nearly total two cars at an intersection is the worst form of car crash they could think of. Check out examples of those reactions below.

LaMelo Ball’s erratic driving style is not new news, as he has been accused of running over a young Charlotte Hornets fan a while ago. But this could be a new low for the 2022 All-Star, as videos of this crash prove he needs further driver training.

LaMelo Ball almost left the scene of the crash immediately

The video of his car crash shows LaMelo Ball’s Hummer truck tilting to the left after hitting the other car, and then moving towards the side of the road.

Other clips from the incident revealed that as a result of that head-on crash, the left front wheel assembly tore apart from his truck. Since he could not go anywhere with that camouflage liveried vehicle, the 2021 Rookie of the Year had to call for help.

Another clip shows a black Lamborghini Urus SUV pulling in, and some men escorting the Hornets star into the vehicle before pulling away. It is not as if he were fleeing the scene. Rather, he was just leaving in the presence of law enforcement.
