LaMelo Ball and LaVar Ball

The Charlotte Hornets recently played against the New York Knicks in an NBA Cup matchup. One of the notable absentees for this match was the Hornets star LaMelo Ball. He has been one of the influential players for his side this season.

LaMelo missed this game due to injury but his father LaVar Ball was in attendance for this matchup. Unfortunately, the Hornets lost by just one point in a thrilling encounter against the Knicks.

However, what caught the most attention was LaVar’s Instagram live interaction with his fans. His mysterious statement in an Instagram Live session has once again sparked a frenzy in the basketball community.

You know we need that guy. Don’t worry about it, help is coming. Help is coming.

LaVar Ball said

Many fans and experts couldn’t help but wonder if he was hinting at a possible reunion with his sons, LaMelo and Lonzo Ball, on the Charlotte Hornets, given his tendency to make audacious forecasts and spark rumors. It makes perfect sense to match the Ball brothers on one team.

The Hornets might have a special dynamic because of their complementary skill sets. The team, currently 6-14, has had a dismal season overall, but LaMelo’s ability to score and create innovative plays has been a bright spot.

Despite having minimal assistance on the court, LaMelo Ball has been playing at an All-Star level, averaging a career-high 31.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 6.9 assists per game. Adding his brother Lonzo Ball to the Hornets would be a great deal for the franchise if they were to pull this off.

LaMelo Ball injury update: to miss at least ‘2 weeks’ with calf strain

LaMelo Ball, a star for the Charlotte Hornets, injured his left calf on Wednesday (November, 27). The franchise said last Saturday that he will be reassessed two weeks following the injury.

Ball missed his first game of the season on Friday as the Hornets lost to the New York Knicks 99-98 in the NBA Cup. Ball’s absence made a huge impact on the Hornets. Despite having youngster Brandon Miller on their roster, Ball provided a different dynamic in attack which seemed to be lacking against the Knicks.

Ball has the second-highest usage rate in the league (38.5%). Naturally, without him and Tre Mann (back injury), the team’s third-leading reserve guard with a 25% usage rate, the Hornets’ offense will look very different.

That said, the Hornets have not been great overall, in offense or defense as a team. They have relied on Ball’s brilliance for most of the 2024-25 NBA season.
