LaMelo Ball is finally back on the NBA hardwood after 9 months away, rehabbing an injury. The league has dearly missed the antics of the Charlotte Hornets superstar. Ball scored 34 points in his return. He also had 8 boards and 11 assists, nearly netting a triple-double in the Hornets’ win over the Houston Rockets. But it was the post-game interview of Ball that left fans in splits.

LaMelo Ball has always been notoriously real and unfiltered in his interviews. His post-game comments on live television proved just that. The Hornets All-Star was asked about his handshake with legendary Hornets point guard Kemba Walker. Ball had an expletive-riddled reply that had everyone laughing in their seats.

That’s my dawg. He gang. I’m gang. We chillin’ all the time. I f*ck with his family.

The reply by LaMelo Ball was hilarious, as he seemed to drop the F-bomb with no care. But it could earn him a hefty fine as it violates the NBA’s strict code of conduct about swearing. It appears Ball’s return from injury along with excellent performance might have played a part in the swearing.

Ball has notoriously been caught cussing on air several times before as well. If NBA sees this as an offense, they will likely make him undergo sensitivity or media training. This will ensure that an incident like this doesn’t happen again. However, the NBA officials have yet to make a statement about it so far.

Ball led the Hornets from the top, allowing them to topple a potential playoff team in the Western Conference with a 110-105 victory. While the league may be critical of Ball’s expletives on air, fans of the star guard were left in splits after hearing his comments. Social media was bubbling soon after, as they did not waste time reacting to his comments.

Fans mostly laughed at the lack of media training in the star, while others pointed out his history of cussing on air since his early rise to fame at 15 years of age.

Many laughed off the incident, while some did point to Hornets star referring to him and Walker as a ‘gang.’ Ball mostly meant to call Walker similar to family for him, given his influence and help as a friend and mentor. However, his slang-riddled answer left much to desire as some fans came down hard on him for referring to each other as ‘gang’ even though Ball comes from a great community in California.
