16-year old Lamine Yamal, in a major decision, committed his future with Barcelona, exclaiming that he aspires to become a legend at the Catalan club. The Barca prodigy had a stunning breakout season with the club, and is set to continue further.

The Spanish starlet has become a household name for all Blaugrana fans, owing to a brilliant 2023-24 season he had at the club. Scoring five goals and five assists in 37 La Liga games last season, he was one of the breakout stars of the year. Despite his efforts, Barcelona managed to finish a distant second last season. There were rumors of Man City‘s interest in Yamal, and Barcelona’s poor financial situation had led to some talk that he could be sold to ease them.

Dismissing all speculation, the 16-year-old opened up about his aspirations of becoming a legend at Barcelona one day. Speaking to reporters, Yamal expressed his desire to stay and continue with the team, giving his best for an extended period.

The 16-year old has now been called up to represent the Spanish national team at the Euros in Germany. His outstanding performance, including an assist to Dani Carvajal for Spain’s third goal in their 3-0 victory over Croatia, has delighted fans.

Recent reports also suggest that Barcelona is keen on securing him with a long-term contract upon turning 18 in July 2025. Additionally, fans have even drawn comparisons between him and Barcelona icon Lionel Messi.

Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal provided details of his very first conversation with newly appointed Barcelona manager, Hansi Flick. The German coach joined the Catalan club following the dismissal of their former player-turned-manager Xavi due to significant disagreements.

Speaking to network COPE, the 16-year-old mentioned the circumstances leading to the departure of former manager Xavi, which saddened him. However, he conveyed his enthusiasm about working under new manager Flick, who is expected to bring new tactics and strategies to the financially-challenged club.

It was a very strange moment. At first Xavi left, then he stayed… It was strange, because we saw the same thing that you saw too. [It was] very sad for me. Flick wished me a lot of luck and said to me that it already wished to begin the season like a trainer of the Barca.

During their initial discussion, Yamal mentioned that Flick had extended his best wishes before the Euros and expressed excitement about commencing the season as Barcelona’s coach.
