Singling out a 16-year-old from a squad featuring the likes of Rodri, Daniel Carvajal and Alvaro Morata seems excessive. However, Lamine Yamal‘s ascent to the footballing scene is something that needs to be studied. The FC Barcelona star and Spanish winger has, simply put, been unstoppable at the 2024 Euros. Having featured in all five games for Spain, Yamal will now take on France in the semis.

Ahead of the heavily anticipated clash, French midfielder Adrien Rabiot has made an attempt to put pressure on the teenager. In a recent interview, Rabiot seemed to intimidate the forward, calling for him to ‘do more’ if Spain are to progress against France.

He (Yamal) knows how to handle pressure very well. But it will be complicated to manage a semi-final in such a competition. It is up to us to put the pressure on him and not let him feel comfortable. He'll have to do much more to play in Euro final than what he's done until now!
Adrien Rabiot said in a press conference

Yamal is already the top assist provider at the Euros with three. His partnership with Nico Williams up front will surely cause problems for the French backline.

Lamine Yamal responds with cryptic message to Adrien Rabiot’s claim

Despite being just 16 years of age, Lamine Yamal exudes brilliance and maturity on the pitch. Spain’s No.19 plays with a level of calmness and composure not seen before in a player of his age. However, with just two games to go before claiming the title, Yamal has certainly come to the realization that all eyes are on him!

Seemingly in response to Adrien Rabiot’s claim in front of the press, the FC Barcelona man posted his reply on Instagram. His most recent story shows that Yamal is waiting for the best moment to reply. ‘Move in silence. Only speak when it’s time to say checkmate‘, posted Yamal on Instagram. Prior to the quarter final against Germany, former goalkeeper Jens Lehmann came forward with a similar claim.

He called the Spanish squad inexperienced owing to their extremely young attacking line-up. Yamal responded with a marvelous assist to Dani Olmo before being subbed off in the second half. With big chances created, no player at the Euros has more! He has been involved in 27% of Spain’s goals scored at the Euros.
