Lamine Yamal is one of the most promising young talents in all of Europe. The FC Barcelona winger and Spain international became the youngest ever player to make an appearance at the Euros. At the tender age of 16 years and 338 days, the Spaniard took to the pitch against Croatia, picking up an assist in the process.
There are very few in his age bracket that live up to the hype as much as the Barcelona star. One such player is Nico Williams, who currently plies his trade for La Liga side Athletic Club. In a recent interview for El Larguero, Yamal stated that there’s just one player he wished who played for Barcelona and it was none other than Williams. The two are close friends, with several clips of the duo spending time together at the national team camp circulating on social media.
If you ask me just one player to sign, I'd say Nico Williams for sure. I hope to share the locker room with him at Barca.Lamine Yamal told El Larguero
The 16-year-old will most likely be included in the starting line-up for Spain for the upcoming group stage encounter against defending champions Italy.
Lamine Yamal showered with praise as teenager continues to impress on the big stage
Spain marched their way past Croatia in their opening game at the Euros. Last edition’s semi-finalists did not have to break their stride even once as their players put three goals past Dominik Livakovic and his back line. As Lamine Yamal came off after a record breaking debut, the player was welcomed with heavy words of praise and comparisons that equated him to Lionel Messi himself.
Former Premier League striker Fernando Llorente chose to give the youngster the biggest praise of all. He claimed that not even Barcelona legend Messi was as good as Yamal at his age. He also stated that the teenager couldn’t be compared to anyone at this point in his career.
Spain’s No.19 broke into the Barcelona starting XI and has cemented his spot as a starter for the Blaugrana. Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente also chose to sing praise for his youngest player.
He's impressing everyone and going up through the levels. He has to keep improving everyday and over time, will become a wonderful footballer.Luis de la Fuente told in a post-match interview
Several fans are convinced that if Yamal remains injury-free, he will, very soon be on his way to becoming one of the best in the world!
