Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal was praised by fans following an impressive display for the club, in a crucial 5-1 victory over Mallorca in La Liga. The 17-year-old ended the match with an assist, taking his season tally to 16 goal contributions in 20 matches.
The Catalan giants claimed an important win over RCD Mallorca away from home, to end their short three-match slump. Barcelona lost two and drew one match last month, dropping points in the race to the La Liga title. However, the recent win puts the Catalan club clear on top of the standings with 37 points from 16 matches, four ahead of second-placed Real Madrid (who although have two games in hand). Barca’s win was guided by Lamine Yamal’s display. The La Masia star made his return following a four-week absence due to an ankle injury.
Barcelona took an early lead through Ferran Torres’s strike. However, the home side equalized in the 43rd minute through Vedat Muriqi’s goal. Yamal was instrumental in Barca’s second goal. He won a penalty in the 56th minute, which was converted by skipper Raphinha. The Spaniard then delivered a brilliant outside-foot cross to assist Raphinha, who completed his brace. Yamal contributed once more, after his deflected cross allowed Frenkie De Jong to score. Pau Victor scored a late goal to seal a 5-1 win.
