Young guns did the job for Spain yet again as the men in red booked their spot in the quarter finals. La Roja were up against an electric Georgian side, who were on the back of an exciting win against Portugal. That being said, Luis de la Fuente‘s men were unfazed in front of their opposition as they eventually secured the win by four goals to one.

Moments after the final whistle, fans spotted an interesting game of rock, paper, scissors between Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams to decide who gets to drink out of a water bottle. The two teenagers were in charge of the flanks for Spain, and it’s safe to say that they did not disappoint.

Though Williams won the game, Yamal hilariously pestered him, asking him to return the bottle. After keeping Yamal at bay for a few seconds, Williams handed him the bottle.

The FC Barcelona man proceeded to splash water at his teammate as they proceed to make their way to the changing room. Both Yamal and Williams picked up goal contributions against Georgia.

Spain crush ‘dark horses’ Georgia in one-sided Round of 16 tie

Not many thought of Georgia winning over Spain as the two were drawn to face each other in the Round of 16 of the Euros. Despite an early scare, La Roja managed to easily manoeuvre their way past Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and his men at Cologne Stadium. Spain saw the opposition go ahead completely against the flow of play, owing to an unfortunate own goal from Robin Le Normand.

It took Spain about 20 minutes to find a response, as Rodri stepped up to pull his side level with a special goal. His left-footed strike from the edge of the box evaded Giorgi Mamardashvili and found its way to the bottom right corner. Fans hadn’t forgotten the goalkeeper’s claim that Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is better than the entire Spanish contingent.

Mamardashvili had to pick the ball out from his own net for a total of four times on the night. Goals from Fabian Ruiz, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo gave Georgia no chance to make a comeback in the final minutes. Spain’s win over Georgia set up La Roja with their biggest challenge of the competition yet, as they face hosts Germany in the quarterfinal.
