On Monday, EA Sports announced the 99 rankings for the latest 2026 edition of the popular video game Madden NFL. The elusive and elite list included two players from the Philadelphia Eagles, and one each from the Baltimore Ravens, Minnesota Vikings, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, and the Buffalo Bills.

Saquon Barkley, who was voted the NFL Offensive Player of the Year, and right tackle Lane Johnson were the two Philadelphia Eagles representatives on the list, which had only seven names. In addition, Saquon Barkley also graced the cover of the respected game. The 99 rating, the highest any player can get in this league, has been given 129 times since the release of Madden 99.

Barkley and Johnson joined HOF safety Brian Dawkins and longtime kicker David Akers as the third and fourth Eagles players to be awarded the 99 rating. While Barkley became the first offensive player, Johnson is the second. They are also the first Eagles players to make the list since 2006, despite the Eagles winning a ring in the meantime.

Quarterbacks Josh Allen (Bills) and Lamar Jackson (Ravens), wideouts JaMarr Chase (Bengals) and Justin Jefferson (Vikings), and DE Myles Garrett (Browns) completed the 99 club this time.

The Madden 26 Rookie Ratings are planned to be published tomorrow, with offense and defense rankings and a full reveal including Superstar and X Factors on Friday. The official release is set for August 14. However, they are offering seven-day early access to Madden 26 starting August 7 for those who pre-order the game.

Lane Johnson elevated to GOAT status among the Birds by social media users

The right tackle entered the league and the team in 2013 and made 6 Pro Bowls, 2 First Team All-Pros, and was part of two Super Bowl-winning rosters with them. He played an important role in both squads, setting up a deadly offensive line.

The 35-year-old from Texas, who hasn’t owned a console since the old PS2 era, has walked through the highs and lows with the Eagles. He expressed immense joy after receiving the 99 chain in a black box from his teammate Barkley, who admittedly played a role in Johnson’s inclusion.

Johnson admitted that it felt extremely amazing and rendered him looking for words to say. He also praised his teammates and his personnel for their support, which he claimed led him here:

That’s awesome. Yeah, I really don’t even know what to say or what to do with the chain. None of it could be possible without my teammates, my coaches, and, obviously, people in this building. So, (it’s a) cool thing to have. Very thankful, grateful, and honored.

The rightfully deserved Madden 99 induction has placed him among the best Eagles players in their history. Social media has annointed him as the best ever.

A lot of the social media users claimed that the induction came too late, that it should have happened already.

However, a considerable number of users believe that Lane Johnson’s admission doesn’t make sense. Tristan Wirfs, Jordan Mailata are two names that have emerged as linemen who should have made the list over Johnson.

With the training camp already underway, Lane Johnson will be entering his 13th season with the Eagles. He will join former players Brian Dawkins, Jason Kelce, Bucko Kilroy, and Harold Carmichael in the list of most seasons for the Birds.
