UFC star Conor McGregor remains the hot topic of the fight world, one weird way or another. This week, it’s not Irish political dreams or Proper 12 that grabbed the headlines. Slyly sliding into DMs that does not help McGregor’s case has made him a hotter topic. So much so that one WMMA UFC crop took inspiration for a cheeky dig at analyst Laura Sanko.

Ex-two-weight champ Conor McGregor, who remains on the last leg of his fight contract with the UFC, is under fire. Rapper Azealia Banks recently disclosed private messages of ‘The Notorious; ‘harassing’ her online with explicit photos! It was inclusive of full frontal nudity and some penile use of weights on the appendage.

No.12-ranked UFC Women’s strawweight, Angela “Overkill” Hill, is widely known for her quippy but friendly demeanor. Given the Irishman’s lewd but immensely viral use of weights, Hill used it as inspiration for a cheeky dig. It was some sort of ‘girl talk’ in a private message to Laura Sanko. The snap was of her with weights (a light kettlebell) similarly placed, and the captioned it as follows:

Happy Monday @laurasanko

Hill and her quippy mantra are wild, and she even shares dialogues with fans, much like Jon Jones, Aljamain Sterling, and others. During the Riyadh Season UFC Saudi Arabia fight night, Kelvin Gastelum dapped it up with fighter Nasrat Haqparast, who kind of resembles him.

For her part, Hill poked a dig at Gastelum, now sporting a big mid-region timber and missing weights, with the ‘Spider-Man X Spider-Man‘ meme, but with ‘fat’ variant. She also celebrated Polyana Viana’s mean-mugging-gone-wrong, and most often disses the competition with memes.

However, as funnily directed this dig was, bet Laura Sanko didn’t expect it to be at the cost of McGregor’s recent woes! That too, coming fresh off UFC on ESPN 70 cageside play-by-play duties with quite a turnout.

Longtime correspondent and analyst Laura Sanko is no stranger to weird texts, flirty digs, or such threads of conversations; even peers and fighters engage in those. When on analyst duties on the Weigh-In Show, the American color commentator often gets poked on it. For instance, her admiration for 170-pound Kazakh boogeyman Shavkat Rakhmonov has remained a hot topic.

Sanko is known for having a cordial relationship with other fighters. She previously wished for a McGregor vs. Ilia Topuria rivalry to manifest into a Spain PPV headliner. McGregor released the branded “Notorious” Cigars. On her IG handle, Sanko even iterated getting some in gift, probably his famous Toro size (6×50) extravaganzas.

This just goes to show how bigger than life McGregor has been, and continues to be so. Even hot topics or viral moments are something the fight community is hinging on, away from his combat return. Other than Hill, others have also delved into this topic.

Conor McGregor garners unlikely defense after potential NSFW pics from Azealia Banks billed as ‘AI’

It seems like the idea of headlining a White House concept PPV lineup could take a backseat for Conor McGregor. A Dublin Court holding him in contempt of assault later, with him losing €248,000 in damages (£206,000 /$260,000 all-in). Even now, he is grabbing headlines as usual, but it’s for mostly for wrong reasons.

It’s specifically not good optics when Conor McGregor and his litigators are trying to appeal his assault civil verdict. Away from his UFC return, the Irishman is his usual self, former double-champ, unheralded PPV king, and MMA’s ‘bad boy.’

MMA’s ‘Bad Guy’ has already weighed in on the absurdity of his (alleged) unsolicited NSFW messages. Now, Chael Sonnen keeps the disbelief alive, saying those could have been doctored by Artificial Intelligence.

I’m inclined to defend him. First off: I’m inclined to just tell you if you pull back from that photo, …there’s nothing in that photo that makes sense…There really isn’t. Now, things happen, …happen all the time that don’t make sense; Secondly, in the second photo, the second photo is accompanied by a video, and Conor’s eyes are doing some weird stuff, [just] looked like potential AI. And I keep getting this sent to me, and I keep asking, ‘Hey, is that AI?’

According to a screenshot of her direct messages, McGregor, later deleted the snaps with a “don’t be a rat” sort of fair warning. ‘The Notorious’ is marked by incessant allegations his entire pro career. He was also levied €1,000 in 2019 for the assault of Desmond Keogh in a Dublin setting. Only time will tell how his box office value and fight future will fare, given recent circumstances.
