Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant did not hold back on his teammate Jusuf Nurkic in a reportedly leaked audio. Durant has always been known to keep it blunt and real with the media, fans, and, of course, his teammates.

A hot mic caught the Suns’ leading scorer reprimanding Nurkic following a sequence of missed shots near the ring. The incident happened during the Suns’ narrow 114-113 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. Kevin Durant was visibly upset after a possession that saw Nurkic miss a number of attempts at the rim.

The Suns’ center was surrounded by bodies as he tried to finish a bucket at the ring but was rejected by the Mavs’ defense. As Nurkic came down to the floor, a hot mic picked up the fiery interaction between KD and Nurkic.

We’re a f*cking team! Pass the f*cking ball, he’s (Royce O’Neal) wide open.

Durant was especially upset with Jusuf Nurkic’s response to the missed attempts. Hewanted his big man to kick out the ball to a wide-open Royce O’Neal. However, Durant was even more upset with Nurkic almost picking up a technical foul for arguing for a foul call with the referee after missing under the Mavericks ring.

Thankfully for the Suns, Nurkic responded well to the feedback from Durant. He finished the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds, including the game-winning free throw in the dying seconds of the match.

Durant, too, had another big game, leading the Suns with 26 points on 8-14 shooting from the field. Unfortunately, he will remain out of action for the Suns after the latest reports of his untimely injury.

Kevin Durant injury update

During the win against the Mavericks, Kevin Durant reportedly suffered a calf strain. The injury was announced after the game, as Durant is set to miss a considerable amount of time while rehabilitating the injury.

The team announced that Durant is set to be re-evaluated for his injury after two weeks to determine a further course of action. The Suns will be especially careful with Durant’s injury, given the history of lower leg injuries suffered by him.

In 2019, Durant was initially diagnosed with a high calf strain, which caused him to miss the end of the playoffs during the Golden State Warriors bid to three-peat. However, he returned prematurely from his injury and suffered a torn Achilles injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.

The injury kept him off the floor for over a year before he finally made his return in late 2020. As the Suns stand near the top of the Western Conference, with an 8-2 record following their Sunday night loss to the Kings, the team will cautiously continue the rehabilitation process for Durant. For the time being, however, he is set to be absent for the Suns’ NBA Cup opener against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.
