LEAKED letter reveals Joel Embiid’s false promise to French president Emmanuel Macron on playing for France
Philadelphia 76ers superstar has been confirmed by Team USA to represent them in the upcoming Paris Olympics.

Joel Embiid apparently sent a letter to President Emmanuel Macron suggesting he wanted to play for the French National Team
Joel Embiid has finally received his jersey, which he will be wearing to the upcoming Paris Olympics. The Team USA jersey with the No. 11 emblazoned on it was handed over to him by Team USA director Grant Hill yesterday. However, he originally wanted to play for the French National Team. As revealed by a letter he sent to French President Emmanuel Macron.
Independent journalist Benjamin Moubèche revealed that French sports publication RMC Sport has gotten their hands on a letter, which apparently Joel Embiid sent to French President Emmanuel Macron in 2021.

After discussion with the French Basketball Federation, my choice has now been made. I wish to take steps to obtain French naturalization and thus be able to be selected with the Blues. I therefore do not wish to play for any other national team.
The summary of the letter showed what Embiid wrote
Embiid sent a letter committing to play for the French national team. He was looking for French citizenship so that he could play in the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Cameroon-born player could have played for the Cameroon national team. Having a part of his family in France, he wanted to join the French national team. In 2022, France awarded him citizenship. With this, many thought he would join Les Blues.
However, around the same time, Team USA was heavily recruiting the Philadelphia 76ers superstar. Evidently, the USA also granted Embiid citizenship. Earlier this year, when superstars of the league were talking about banding together for the Paris Olympics, Embiid confirmed that he would play for Team USA.
Joel Embiid in a bid to have a decent playoff run
As Joel Embiid locks in his place on Team USA, he is working on returning to his peak mid-season form. If he is able to do that, he will be able to lead his Philadelphia 76ers team to a decent playoff run. Some consider the superstar big man to not be at peak fitness after returning from injury. But with time running out, Embiid can only hope to play his way to reaching that physical level.
Otherwise, the hard-charging New York Knicks will pose a significant challenge in the first round of the playoffs. Embiid’s return ensures that the team will not struggle against inside scoring. The reigning MVP could play his way to 100% fitness by the time the 1st round series reaches its climax.
Joel Embiid knows the season has not gone as he wanted. However, that does not mean he will throw away the chance to fight for a spot in the Finals. A healthy Embiid and the 76ers could be the dark horse in the East playoffs.
