UFC’s hottest prospect Khamzat Chimaev has been on a phenomenal run catching the attention of every second fighter in the middleweight and welterweight division. Chimaev turns his attention towards Stephen Thompson after knocking out Gerald Meerschaert within 20 seconds at UFC Vegas 11. Earlier, Thompson doubled down on his interest to face Leon Edwards via Twitter, a request he made in a recent interview with MMA Fighting.
Chimaev doesn’t have his next fight officially set despite all signs pointing to the 26-year-old Swedish fighter taking on veteran Demian Maia after Meerschaert. However, UFC president Dana White indicated Saturday that might no longer be the case.
