An article came out earlier today where Bloomberg Business reported that another basketball league is taking shape. The international basketball league is being touted as a rival to the NBA and currently, the idea is being floated by Maverick Carter.
LeBron James‘ close friend and business partner floating such an idea would draw the interest of many. Carter seeking to raise $5 billion to fund the new league went viral as anything related to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar and ownership does catch the eye. It also caught the eye of Kendrick Perkins, who wrote this on X.

He was baffled by this news as he thought, just as many like him, that LeBron James was interested in owning a franchise. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also teased him with talks about a potential franchise in Las Vegas.

However, this news is moving away from that idea as a new league is a completely different proposition than owning one team. Even then, the Akron natives have confirmed earlier that James wants to own a franchise in the NBA.
LeBron James’ proposed new league format

The league will comprise six men’s and six women’s teams, with games played in eight cities around the world with two weeks in each city, the people said.
