I am not sure—I might play against Bron, right? Yeah, so I get to go against one of my teammates. You know, it will be a lot of fun just to go out there and try to make a statement.

From a career-high and season high performance of 37 points to tying the record for most three-pointers by a rookie in a single game with 9 daggers from deep, Westside Knecht’s professional career is taking off like a rocket. In today’s match up, Lakers’ rookie combined for 12 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal spawning fans to label him as the steal of the year in 2024 drafts.

However, his remarks were interpreted as him being salty toward King James since the Lakers tried to trade him for some frontcourt help earlier this month. Although the deal fell through, Knecht might be looking for some kind of drama this weekend as he prepares to battle the OGs like Stephen Curry and his idol, Kevin Durant.

Fans perplexed with Lakers’ decision to trade Dalton Knetch before Bronny James

On February 5th, Los Angeles Lakers agreed to trade Knecht, Cam Reddish, a 2031 unprotected first-round pick, and a 2030 pick swap to the Hornets in order to acquire the center, Mark Williams that will provide the team with much needed length and front court help since obtaining Luka Doncic. However, the deal collapsed in the 11th hour after the Williams failed to pass the Lakers’ physical fitness exam.

Nonetheless, this business move by Lakers’ GM, Rob Pelinka, has infuriated most of the Lakers loyalists. Many poised the question as to why Bronny James was never considered for the trade, with one fan crying, “WHAT?! No way they’re trading Knecht before Bronny”

As always, the sentiment was split among the consensus. Some sobbed over the potential loss of a rookie of Knecht’s caliber, while others welcomed the Hornets’ big man with open arms, much like they embraced Anthony Davis’s addition to the roster almost six years ago.
