LeBron James and Draymond Green All-Star antics could cost $100 billion league commissioner’s job

Draymond Green and LeBron James' gaffes at All-Star weekend could be detrimental for Adam Silver

The 2025 NBA All-Star weekend finished with fans not liking what Adam Silver‘s league put out. They saw disinterested players taking to the courts and casually going about their business as if they had to just complete a task. That new format though was a mixed bag with Draymond Green being the biggest critic.

Charles Barkley tried to shut down Green’s zero rating for the new four-team All-Star game format. He blamed players for forcing the league’s hands. However, Green’s point did resonate with fans across the world. He believed the structure itself should be abolished as it was insulting and detrimental to the game.

To compound matters, LeBron James decided to withdraw at the last moment. Fans were left fuming, as his late announcement stopped the league from flying in a replacement. With that all that transpiring, veteran journalist Jason Whitlock had this to say.

They’re getting crooked when Draymond Green, one of your current players, sitting on TV calling your product trash and your domestic reputation is as bad as the NBA’s and you’re a laughingstock. The impetus is eventually this is going to cost Adam Silver his job. I really authentically believe that.

Jason Whitlock believes Adam Silver will lose his job if the likes of Draymond Green, a standout player who has won four titles belittles his ways. The journalist feels the NBA, a $100 billion organization, will look into how Silver’s methods have brought all this negative attention.

Jason Whitlock feels LeBron James’ All-Star decision will bite back

After talking about what the NBA will face after producing such a boring and disappointing All-Star weekend, Whitlock’s attention turned to LeBron James. The analyst believes the Los Angeles Lakers superstar will get back for withdrawing from the All-Star game at the last moment.

LeBron James is not happy today. Maybe he doesn’t care, but I tend to think he does. Because, I’m seeing people say, ‘Hey man, I’ve always defended LeBron James, but I have to admit I was wrong’. And I don’t think LeBron is gonna like that.

He is referring to the fan discourse that is well and alive on social media. They were livid once James left his team, Shaq’s OGs, with no time left to bring in a replacement. Thankfully, they won the NBA All-Star game. Had they lost, fans would have blamed the Lakers superstar.

Whitlock feels he will be blamed regardless, something which he will not appreciate. His last-minute decision made him look selfish. That has also brought to the forefront how his previous decisions of going to Miami and to Los Angeles altered fans’ perception of him.
