Over the last couple of years, there have been enough instances when some sections of basketball fans wanted LeBron James to either retire or leave the Los Angeles Lakers.
That was their reaction when time and again, the franchise could not get close to winning another NBA championship, and the obvious way out was to blame the team’s best player.
Over the past couple of days, it has become evident that even the franchise’s most important personnel, namely governor Jeanie Buss, was also harboring disappointment towards James.
If an outsider, such as ESPN’s Baxter Holmes, managed to get a clue about her disappointment with James’ alleged ‘power play’, it means those close to the Lakers might also have an idea about it.
The reality is, what we’re having right now, this is an end of a relationship in terms of LeBron James and the Lakers. Whether that comes at the end of this season, if LeBron James decides as a free agent to sign somewhere else, or if he decides to retire, or he decides to come back for one more year and decide that he wants to retire as a Lakers… The end is near with this relationship, however you wanna slice it.

The league’s most connected insider believes that even though LeBron James was nonchalant about this article, the relationship between him and the franchise is on the verge of ending. However, how it happens is up to the league’s all-time leading scorer.
Brian Windhorst does not believe LeBron James and Lakers’ relationship is ‘fractured’
Shams Charania did not suggest that the relationship between LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers has reached a point of no return. Rather, as Brian Windhorst would say on NBA Today, such problems are normal.

For 20-plus years now, part of dealing with LeBron is dealing with headaches. Sometimes he is going to upset you, but whatever he does to upset you, he makes up for it x10. x20. x50. That was the case in Cleveland, Miami, and now in LA. Has Jeanie been upset with LeBron at times? Absolutely. Would she give anything back about the last 8 years? Absolutely not!
Brian Windhorst said
Windhorst reiterated that even though there might be some truth that Jeanie Buss is upset with the King, nowhere does it suggest that she and her most important player have a ‘fractured’ relationship.

Hearing this, fellow analyst and a member of the 2020 championship-winning team, Danny Green, agreed. He knows what it is like to be around the King.
Jeanie Buss should be ‘grateful’ to LeBron James, says analyst
Even though this article might not impact LeBron James, it has done some serious damage to how Lakers, and how they are run as an organization. On that note, Chris Broussard believes Jeanie Buss and her siblings should know their place.
Jeanie Buss and the Lakers and the Buss family should be grateful that LeBron decided: ‘I wanna go to the Lakers’ … If LeBron had not decided to go to the Lakers, the Buss children…would go down as abject failures.
Chris Broussard said on First Things First
The longtime analyst believes the franchise should not forget that, without the four-time league MVP, they would have still been fighting for relevance, as other analysts have also pointed out.

James is the primary reason the Lakers have a superstar who led them back to their rightful place as the most famous basketball franchise in the world. Otherwise, the purple and gold would not have been a standard for which they are known currently.
