“They not one-on-one guys!” LeBron James and son Bronny don’t have a chance, says Carmelo Anthony

Los Angeles Lakers teammates LeBron James and son Bronny don't have a chance in 1-on1 game against Carmelo Anthony and son Kiyan

LeBron James and his son Bronny James are now Los Angeles Lakers teammates. As such, they are expected to play alongside each other at some point this upcoming season. Considering they are in the league and better shape, Kiyan Anthony, son of Carmelo Anthony, was honest that the James’ will beat him and his father in a game. But the former 10-time All-Star disagreed.

Kiyan Anthony was on video with his father on Overtime where he revealed that he was only joking about the James’ beating them in a game of 1-on-1. When he asked his father for his opinion on whether they had to redo the score, Carmelo Anthony said:

Yeah, they both in the league. I get that. They just not 1-on-1 guys. So, the game probably never happened because LeBron don't play 1-on-1. Bronny is not considered a 1-on-1 player, but he can score, he's very talented, very skilled. He's a pro.

Carmelo Anthony is as good as a 1-on-1 player as there ever was in the NBA. Therefore, it is highly likely that he and his son Kiyan Anthony could win a game against the James’.

On the contrary, he is right about LeBron James. The 4-time NBA title winner has always been a more team-first player. Scoring off passes, lobs, and screens. Only taking over games when the need arises. Even then, he will likely struggle to generate scores when playing 1-on-1.

Bronny James is also not a 1-on-1 player. As was evident from his time at USC. He too like his father scores off of set plays. Something that new Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick wants to implement.

LeBron James to use his team focused game at the Olympics

When Team USA executives picked the best players to head to the Olympics, they focused on the team aspect. Which is where LeBron James seamlessly fits in. He knows the likes of Joel Embiid, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, and Jayson Tatum perform well in isolation. But his presence will ensure that the team game gets priority.

Using his 21 years of experience, the 4-time NBA Finals MVP can dictate how each player gets open to take the best shot. A crucial requirement is to avoid defenders focusing on any particular player and shutting them down. James will use his elite game management ability to relay what the coaches want to implement.

That can go on to help Team USA beat out experienced International teams who have way more chemistry than anyone on this roster. A lack of chemistry is what led Team USA to embarrassingly exit the FIBA World Cup. LeBron James leading the charge should ensure that does not happen.
