Opening night of the NBA season saw LeBron James play alongside his son Bronny James to create sporting history. The Los Angeles Lakers teammates stepped onto the court in the second quarter to become the first father-son duo to play together in basketball.
Millions witnessed the momentous occasion. But soon after the glitter was swept off the floor and the father and son duo reached home, they were handed a lawsuit, according to TMZ Sports. The plaintiffs are reportedly seeking compensation for damages from a car crash involving the Los Angeles Lakers teammates in 2022.
April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles County on Tuesday (October 22) afternoon. They allege that the two James’s crashed into them while they were driving on a highway in Littlerock, California. The incident, dated November 13, 2022, allegedly left their car damaged.
They further allege that the damage caused by the crash has made the vehicle lose its value. At the same time, the two also claim to have suffered injuries for which they required medical attention. TMZ unsuccessfully tried to gain further details of the situation from both parties.
With the way the media attention has been on them, it is likely this incident could also gain publicity. But LeBron James has often stemmed such issues at the root, so he and his army of attorneys might settle this before it becomes a distraction in his son Bronny James‘ debut season.
LeBron James has generally avoided controversy
In his twenty-two seasons in the NBA, LeBron James has a reputation for the way he handles himself. Be it in front of cameras or out of sight, nothing so far has brought negative publicity to the NBA’s all-time scoring leader.
With the way he has uplifted the image of his family, it has brought nothing but respect. But the superstar has managed to evade controversy in some situations. For instance, the rap beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar saw him seemingly switch sides once the Canadian rapper was accused of pedophilia.
The most recent situation with rapper P Diddy has also brought his name to the forefront. James and his wife Savannah have gone to plenty of Diddy-organized parties. But so far, he has remained quiet about the developments as he looks to avoid any link from popping up.
