LeBron James asked to LEAVE Lakers to win another ring before retirement

LeBron James

LeBron James and the Lakers were eliminated from the playoffs, as the Nuggets took Game 5 at home. The series was quite rough for the men in purple and gold who were close to finishing games twice, but couldn’t withstand Denver’s clutch asset, Jamal Murray. Throughout the series, there had been multiple fingers pointed on the Lakers’ coaching staff, management, as well as the players.

Following the series loss, multiple rumors suggest that James might leave the Lakers this offseason. According to Stephen A. Smith, this was the King’s last chance of winning the title as a Laker.

Yes with the Lakers, yes I believe so. I believe he wants to win, he will have to go elsewhere in my humble opinion...
said Stephen A. Smith on First Take.

Some possibilities would land James on another team this offseason, however, there are also that affect the same. One of the key factors does include the upcoming Draft, as the Lakers have a first and second round pick in this year’s Draft. James will look to eye on the same along with his son, Bronny James who is locked in as a second round pick in this year’s Draft.

LeBron James did not comment on questions regarding his decision to stay in LA

Following the Game 5 loss, LeBron James shared his thoughts on the series as he looks ahead to the offseason. With most rumors suggesting that James might leave the Lakers and contend elsewhere, the King answered the question himself.

Considering that James has not yet thought about his decision to stay, one can say that it is indeed possible. The King will have a lot of options at his disposal, however, if Bronny does get drafted this year, his next destination will move accordingly. On the other hand, the Lakers will be scouting very closely this offseason. The roster needs some serious changes if the Lakers want to keep their title contending hopes alive.

If the franchise does manage to make a few good moves, James will look to stay in LA. Adding a reliable shooting backup, a couple of scorers and a big man, the Lakers will be good to go. This will also come after giving away their current assets. And as we look at their bench’s performance this season and in the playoffs, it would be a great adjustment.
